6 Years Later, Cyberpunk 2077 Console Players Officially Get a PC-Only Feature

Cyberpunk 2077 has received another big update nearly six years after its original launch. CD Projekt Red released Update 2.5 on October 22, 2026, bringing a long-requested PC feature to console players. The update brings cross-platform mod support, new quests, combat options, and customization features.

The update also celebrates the arrival of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2, and as if we didn’t have enough of it, it gives us another reason to revisit Night City. For us, the biggest new feature is that console players can now install community-created mods directly through an in-game menu, something PC players have enjoyed for years through external modding tools.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Finally Brings Mod Support to Consoles

For years, PC players have had access to a huge collection of Cyberpunk 2077 mods, from cosmetic changes to actual gameplay overhauls. Console players, meanwhile, were restricted to the default game. Update 2.5 changes that by introducing an official mod browser powered by mod.io.

The feature is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch 2, although the update’s rollout on Switch 2 is scheduled for a few days after the initial release.

Through the integrated menu, we can browse compatible community mods, download them, and enable or disable their chosen features without manually transferring files or installing third-party applications. CD Projekt Red has also confirmed that the available selection will grow over time.

This does not mean you can expect unrestricted access to the entire PC modding ecosystem. The in-game browser includes a select collection of compatible mods, so the more intricate ones available on PC will remain unavailable through this system.

There is a caveat to consider as well. Playing from a modded save on consoles disables the ability to earn trophies or achievements. From now on, saves with mods will have a dedicated icon. Despite this, official mod support for console is a huge step towards extending the game’s longevity.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Adds More Than Just Console Mods

Update 2.5 also brings several other features that could encourage returning players to start another playthrough. Not that we need any more.

The update introduces the Double Trouble perk in the Cool attribute tree, allowing V to dual-wield compatible Power pistols and revolvers. There are four additional perks for this combat style, bringing new ways to experiment with weapon combinations.

There’s also Clampdown, a new side quest set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2. Players can get a five-piece equipment set inspired by the character King after completing the quest. Additionally, the HKGN 102.0 FM radio station brings music from the animated series into Night City’s streets.

We also have new changes to customization. We have new appearances for V’s arm cyberware, including Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and the Projectile Launch System. We also have new clothing collections, hairstyles, and vehicle skins.

The studio has also added a field-of-view slider on consoles. Other technical changes include better HDR rendering, ray-tracing optimizations, and performance improvements for PlayStation 5 Pro.
