Scarlett Johansson’s very R-rated sci-fi movie is leaving Netflix on October 31, and ScarJo fans have likely heard of the movie. Under the Skin, which was released back in 2014, was an iconic sci-fi movie that saw Johansson as an alien asking the bigger questions of what it means to be human.
According to MovieWeb, Under the Skin is officially leaving Netflix soon, with the last date being October 31. Distributed by A24, the sci-fi body horror remains one of the most divisive Scarlett Johansson movies of all time, as fans were not prepared for the storyline.
Under The Skin Remains Scarlett Johansson’s Most Divisive Movie to Date

However, the film runs much deeper than that. With every human that ScarJo encounters, the question hits deeper on what it actually means to be human.
With an indie feel to its setting, the film only earned $9.1 million against a budget of $13 million (via Box Office Mojo). Though critics lauded Glazer’s direction and Scarlett Johansson’s acting, the audiences weren’t ready for what was about to come on the theater screen.
Even today, the film stands at a Critics’ Score of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes (compared to the 55% audience score). Despite the commercial failure, the film went on to earn cult status after its release, and fans soon discovered this hidden gem thanks to streaming. Although Under the Skin is leaving Netflix, there’s not much to worry about since fans will be able to stream the movie for free following its Netflix departure.

Although it still isn’t clear why the movie is leaving Netflix, the more obvious reason would be the end of a licensing deal, which has brought some good news for fans.
After its departure from Netflix, the film will be available to stream for free on Tubi, Pluto TV, and Plex (via MovieWeb). If you are someone who still hasn’t watched this, we would definitely recommend it.
