Alfred Hitchcock turns a case of mistaken identity into one of cinema’s great chase movies in North by Northwest. Cary Grant plays advertising executive Roger Thornhill, who is mistaken for a government agent and pursued across the country while becoming entangled with Eva Marie Saint’s elusive Eve Kendall. It is currently available free with ads on Tubi. Time has been extremely kind to it. The Hitchcock classic sits at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes from more than 100 reviews, with the site praising its suspense, visual set pieces, and influence on the action-thriller genre.

Colin Farrell plays Jake, whose daughter’s beloved android companion stops functioning, sending him on a search for a repair that gradually exposes fragments of Yang’s private memories and cracks within Jake’s own family. The film holds 89% on Rotten Tomatoes from 240 reviews, with critics responding to its measured approach to artificial intelligence, grief, memory, and family rather than conventional sci-fi spectacle.

Its theatrical numbers were far smaller than the mainstream movies on this list. Box Office Mojo records about $748,000 worldwide, including just under $47,000 domestically, reflecting its limited theatrical footprint.
