Yoshihiro Togashi Drops Another Official Hunter X Hunter Manga Release Update

For Hunter x Hunter fans, Yoshihiro Togashi posting a few words about a manuscript can be enough to turn the internet into a forensic laboratory. Every chapter number, every envelope, and apparently every desk in Togashi’s workspace gets analyzed. His latest update is no exception.

Togashi’s updates have become an important window into the manga’s production, particularly after its long history of hiatuses. Rather than announcing release dates outright, his posts often reveal individual stages of the work, giving fans a rare look at how far ahead the manga is progressing. The latest information concerns work connected to Chapter 427 and 430, while readers are still catching up with much earlier material.

Yoshihiro Togashi Gives Fans Another Update Amid Manga’s Return

In his X update (@Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp), Togashi reported that Chapter 427 is completed. In a following post, he also updated that the background specification document for Chapter 430 has been completed. The update does not announce a release date, but it does provide another useful look at where the manga’s production stands.

Togashi’s social-media posts track different stages of manga production rather than simply announcing finished, ready-to-publish chapters. Earlier this year, for example, he reported character inking for Chapter 430 and specifically told readers to wait for the Jump editorial department’s announcement concerning publication timing from Chapter 420 onward.

Since then, the production picture has continued moving forward. Togashi announced that Chapter 421’s manuscript was complete in May, followed by completed manuscripts for Chapters 422, 423, 424, 425 and 426. He has also reported progress on chapters beyond that range. That makes the latest Chapter 430 update particularly interesting: Togashi is working substantially beyond the material currently being published.

It also highlights just how unusual his production process can be. A Togashi update might concern character inking, backgrounds, dialogue specifications, or a completed manuscript, and those milestones should not automatically be interpreted as publication announcements. Hunter x Hunter has repeatedly demonstrated that production progress and magazine scheduling are two separate things.

Here’s How Close Hunter x Hunter Is to Its Next Chapter

The immediate answer is much simpler than the long-term picture: Chapter 420 is the next chapter for readers, with VIZ listing Chapter 419 as released on August 30, 2026 and the next chapter scheduled to be dropped on September 6, 2026.

The 2026 return began with Chapter 411 on June 28 internationally, following Shueisha’s confirmation that the manga would return in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 31 in Japan on June 29. Chapters 411 through 419 have subsequently been released, with Chapter 420 scheduled for September 6 according to the current publication schedule. But Chapter 421 is a different story.

There is currently no officially announced publication date for Chapter 421 or the chapters after it. However, we can assume that the upcoming chapters will be released as per the ongoing schedule. Togashi’s completed manuscripts and production updates show that considerable material exists ahead of the published chapters, but they do not establish when Shueisha will put that material in Weekly Shonen Jump.

Togashi can finish a manuscript without readers immediately receiving it, while an editorial decision can determine when completed material actually reaches the magazine. So, yes, Hunter x Hunter is in a dramatically healthier production position than its hiatus history might suggest. But fans should resist turning “Chapter 430 is progressing” into “Chapter 430 is coming next.” For now, Togashi’s latest post offers something more valuable and concrete: proof that the work continues moving forward, even beyond the chapters currently reaching readers.
