Hate vs. Hater: Every S-Tier Uchiha Challenges Tobirama Senju (How Many Does He Clear?)

Tobirama Senju spent his life fighting the Uchiha, distrusting their power, and eventually helping build the village that would reshape that rivalry. As Hashirama’s brother, Madara’s ideological opposite, and Izuna’s killer, the Second Hokage was practically born into the Senju-Uchiha war in Naruto. Plus, he is the ultimate “Uchiha Hater.”

Now imagine five elite Uchiha stepping into the arena. Naruto‘s most infamous Hokage has Flying Raijin, sensory abilities, monstrous battle IQ, Water Release and forbidden techniques. They have some of the most terrifying eyes in shinobi history. The question is deliciously simple: the Second Hokage spent his life hating the Uchiha, but how many can he actually beat?

This is not a generic power ranking. It is Tobirama’s ultimate stress test and whether he can hold up against six very different Uchiha monsters.

Verdict: Tobirama clears three.

Ranking note: This comparison uses each character’s strongest practical canon version before Boruto-era developments, while avoiding external allies and armies. Edo Tensei is treated as a technique Tobirama can use, but not as an excuse to bring an entire pre-prepared army into a one-on-one fight.

1 Madara Makes Tobirama Regret Ever Picking This Fight

Version: Alive Madara with Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan and Kurama.

Madara is the clear wall at No. 1 because Tobirama simply lacks a reliable answer to the sheer scale of this arsenal. Madara’s Perfect Susanoo, enormous chakra reserves, Fire Release and Kurama combination push the fight far beyond the Izuna battle Tobirama actually won.

The Second Hokage can evade attacks with Flying Raijin and create openings through clones and teleportation, but Madara’s battlefield control eventually closes those escape routes. Madara’s ability to fight Hashirama at his absolute limit is the decisive evidence. Tobirama can survive for a while; he cannot realistically finish Madara.

2 Sasuke Shows Tobirama Why the Uchiha Name Still Hits Different

Sasuke is the nastiest matchup after Madara because his Rinnegan gives Tobirama something even harder to solve than raw firepower: instantaneous positional manipulation. Amenotejikara can swap Sasuke with another target, turning Tobirama’s carefully prepared Flying Raijin traps against him. Add Complete Body Susanoo, Amaterasu, Kagutsuchi, Chidori and Six Paths-enhanced physical abilities, and Tobirama has very little room for error.

His sensory perception and teleportation keep him alive, but Sasuke’s Rinnegan lets him disrupt the spatial game the Second Hokage’s normally controls. Madara remains above him because his sustained power and Perfect Susanoo are even more overwhelming.

3 Obito Turns Tobirama’s Worst Nightmare Into Reality

This is where the ranking gets controversial: Tobirama can clear Obito. Kamui looks almost unbeatable until you remember what happened when Minato fought Obito. Obito must become tangible to physically grab an opponent, while Tobirama can instantly reposition through Flying Raijin and punish that window. Tobirama can also mark Obito directly, as he later did during the Fourth Great Ninja War.

Tobirama does indeed use Flying Raijin against Obito during the war, but the Obito involved there is Ten-Tails jinchūriki Obito, not Orange Mask Obito. And Juubito is specifically a different matchup because he cannot use Kamui’s intangibility after becoming the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki. Kamui’s roughly five-minute continuous intangibility limit and the inability to attack physically while intangible give Tobirama a genuine tactical route to victory. Obito is terrifying, but Tobirama’s teleportation is almost tailor-made to ruin his timing.

4 Itachi Makes Tobirama Wish He Had Not Said That

Version: Edo Tensei Itachi.

Itachi is arguably more dangerous than his raw statistics suggest, but Tobirama’s fighting style gives him enough answers to edge this one. Tsukuyomi is catastrophic if Tobirama meets Itachi’s gaze, so the Second Hokage would immediately avoid a conventional eye-contact battle. Flying Raijin lets him attack from unpredictable angles, while sensory perception reduces his dependence on visual tracking.

Itachi’s Susanoo, Totsuka Blade and Yata Mirror make direct attacks suicidal, but Edo Tensei removes his natural stamina limitations rather than giving him a guaranteed answer to teleportation. Tobirama wins narrowly by refusing Itachi’s preferred game.

5 Shisui Proves Tobirama Cannot Outsmart the Ultimate Genjutsu User

Version: Living Shisui with his Mangekyō Sharingan and Kotoamatsukami.

Shisui ranks below Itachi because his legendary reputation is supported by surprisingly few direct combat feats in the manga. His Kotoamatsukami is nevertheless an enormous problem: the technique subtly rewrites a target’s intentions without them realizing they have been manipulated. The official Naruto site specifically describes it as a peerless genjutsu that can overwrite a person’s thoughts and intentions.

Tobirama’s sensory abilities do not automatically make him immune to genjutsu, but Shisui’s limited demonstrated arsenal and lack of sustained high-level battle feats make this less certain than the Itachi matchup. Tobirama takes it, but Koto gives Shisui a terrifying upset condition.
