X-Men Star Officially Confirmed to Lead Prime Video’s New Horror-Thriller

Ben Hardy, the X-Men star, is confirmed for a new lead role. The actor is set to play (via Deadline) Daniel West in Stillwater, an upcoming Prime Video horror-thriller. This marks his return to the small screen after The Girl Before, which premiered in 2021. Stillwater is a mind-bending thriller that follows ex-con Daniel West as the main protagonist.

Hardy was previously seen as Angel in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). Although there is no confirmation of his return to the universe, he has previously expressed his desire to reprise his role. The actor is known for his diverse range. Hence, his Stillwater casting sparks significant excitement.

Stillwater follows Daniel as he receives a mysterious letter that claims to have the answers to his past. More importantly, it says that he has a substantial inheritance in the small town of Stillwater. Upon arriving at the destination, he discovers a community where no one dies, and nothing ever ages but also nobody ever gets out.

The project is currently being developed by Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, Amazon MGM Studios, and Skybound Entertainment. The series is being hailed by Executive Producers Greg Berlanti, known for You, and Carly Wray of Westworld, both of whom have already co-written the pilot episode. The story is based on the Skybound graphic novel of the same name by Chip Zdarsky and  Ramón K Pérez. Stillwater was greenlit for an eight-episode series ahead of San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026. As of now, there is no release date available, but it will premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

Meanwhile, Ben Hardy was last seen in The Conjuring: Last Rites, which earned the highest-grossing horror opening of all time. The actor also starred in Love at First Sight and Unicorns. Apart from X-Men, one of his notable credits includes Bohemian Rhapsody, where Hardy starred as Queen drummer Roger Taylor opposite Rami Malek’s Freddie Mercury. Hardy also starred in Amazon Studios’ The Voyeurs, starring Sydney Sweeney, and Michael Bay’s 6 Underground.
