Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Officially Releases on Free Streaming in 2 Days

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is about to become considerably easier to revisit without another subscription. Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home officially begin streaming free with ads on Tubi on October 1, putting the first two chapters of Holland’s MCU trilogy behind nothing more intimidating than commercial breaks. Tubi’s official Coming Soon page lists both movies for the same date.

The timing also lands during another busy stretch for Holland’s Spider-Man, with Brand New Day still fresh in theaters and reportedly being considered for a rerelease with additional footage. For anyone wanting to rewind Peter Parker’s MCU story before whatever comes next, Tubi is handing out two-thirds of his original solo trilogy for free.

Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home Cost Nothing

Spider-Man: Homecoming arrives with Holland’s Peter still learning what being an Avenger-level hero actually requires. Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes gives him an unusually grounded adversary, while Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark remains the mentor Peter is desperate to impress. Tubi lists the 2-hour-14-minute 2017 film as coming October 1. Tubi’s official Homecoming page confirms the date, runtime, rating, and cast.

Far From Home picks up after Avengers: Endgame, sending Peter to Europe before Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury recruits him to confront a new threat. Jake Gyllenhaal joins the ensemble as Quentin Beck, while Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, and Marisa Tomei return. Tubi lists the 2-hour-10-minute sequel for October 1 as well.

The pairing is especially useful because the movies capture two radically different Peters. Homecoming has a teenager impatient to prove himself, whereas Spider-Man: Far From Home finds him saddled with grief and expectations after Tony Stark’s death. There is also a neat streaming full circle here. Earlier this year, FandomWire reported that Homecoming had climbed to No. 1 on HBO Max in numerous international territories while anticipation for Brand New Day was building. Its impending Tubi arrival now gives U.S. viewers another free route back to Holland’s beginnings.

Spider-Man Has a Busy October Ahead

The October additions arrive while Holland’s newest Spider-Man adventure is refusing to leave the conversation. Brand New Day opened July 31 and delivered a staggering $360 million domestic and $932 million global opening weekend, which Sony called the biggest domestic opening ever. The studio credited director Destin Daniel Cretton, Holland, Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, and the wider team for the record-setting launch. Sony’s official report provides the figures.

The film subsequently became the highest-grossing movie ever at the North American box office, overtaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And its theatrical life apparently is not finished. Deadline and Variety report that Sony is developing a rerelease featuring new footage following the successful Avengers: Endgame Encore strategy. Home viewing is moving forward too, although cautiously. A recent report says Brand New Day is reportedly targeting October 6 for digital/VOD, but neither Sony nor Marvel has officially confirmed that date.

That makes October unusually busy for Holland’s Spider-Man. His newest adventure may be preparing for both an expanded theatrical run and eventual home release, while the movies that established his Peter Parker are simultaneously becoming easier to watch. Also, Spider-Man: No Way Home is not part of Tubi’s announced October 1 additions. Tubi’s current slate specifically names Homecoming and Far From Home. Still, two free Spider-Man movies are hardly a bad way to spend the first night of October.
