A 65-year-old Whitby man has been accused of sexually exploiting a teen girl with cops expressing concerns that there may be more victims.

Durham Regional Police said the special victims unit concluded an investigation late last month after receiving a report that a man had allegedly sexually assaulted and exploited a 16-year-old girl in 2021.

They said the victim was employed by the man between July and October of that year.
“Police have concerns there are other victims and are requesting anyone with information to come forward,” Sgt. Nicholas Gluckstein said in a news release.
Ahmed Ashraf has since been charged with three counts each of sexual assault and sexual exploitation and was released on an undertaking.

Police said on social media that they received reports at about 4:20 p.m. of a man being shot and found a victim, who is in his 30s, with gunshot wounds in the Humber College Blvd.-Westmore Dr. area.

Pedestrian, cyclist struck in separate collisions
Toronto Police are investigating separate collisions on Wednesday afternoon that left a pedestrian and a female cyclist with serious injuries.
Police said on social media that the first crash happened at Kingston and Manse Rds. in Scarborough at about 1:45 p.m., where a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck.

The pedestrian was sent to a hospital via an emergency run with serious injuries, while the driver remained at the scene.
A westbound lane on Kingston has since been opened after an early closure in that direction.
Police also responded to a crash involving a cyclist and a car at about 3:15 p.m. in the Grace-Harbord Sts. area of Little Italy.

They said the cyclist, a female in her 20s, was sent to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and that the driver remained at the scene.
Delays and road closures were expected in the area.
