Joker: Folie Deux will be released to digital platforms on October 29, less than a month after its theatrical release on October 4.

After critics and audiences flat out rejected the big-budget tentpole, the Joker sequel is poised to lose at least $150 million to $200 million in its theatrical run, according to the estimates of insiders as well as three rival executives with knowledge of similar productions said to Variety.

While Warner Bros. hasn't yet confirmed when the film will be available on his streaming platform Max, the company's usual practice is to release films there 45 days after their theatrical debut. Based on this timeline, Joker: Folie Deux could be available in Max by late November or early December.

A controversial cast

The original Joker sparked heated debate, with critics and audiences alike concerned that its themes might inspire real-life violence.

The decision to cast Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, Joker's infamous partner-in-crime, has sparked backlash among traditional fans. Many object to Gaga's casting and to the film being a musical. However, Phillips and Phoenix have pushed forward with their vision.
