A marriage that almost cost her her life

Behind the fame, Martin endured years of physical and emotional abuse from her then-husband and trainer, James "Jim" Martin. In 2010, their relationship took a tragic turn when Jim brutally attacked her, stabbing and shooting her before leaving her for dead. Miraculously, Christy survived, and in 2012, Jim was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his crimes.

These days, Christy Martin has reclaimed her life. She is now married to Lisa Holewyne, a former boxer she once faced in the ring, and dedicates herself to promotingboxing.
