Starting a new MMORPG is always a little overwhelming. There are quests everywhere, new systems opening up every few levels, a pile of items you have no idea what to do with, and usually one person telling you that you have already ruined your build somehow. In that sense, Aion 2 is no different.
The good news is that in this game, you really don’t need to understand everything from the beginning. A few choices and habits can save you a lot of trouble later, especially during those first 20 or so levels. Here are 10 Aion 2 tips and tricks worth knowing before you get too far.
10 Decide on Your Faction and Server Before Making a Character
Image Credit: NCThis is one of those things that is easy yet crucial to get right before you even start playing the game. Aion 2 separates its servers by faction, with the Elyos and Asmodians having their own sides of the game. So if you are planning to play with friends, talk about it before anyone starts making characters.
The good part is that your class options are not tied to this decision. All eight launch classes can be played by either faction. Pick the side you like, make sure everyone is on the same server, and then worry about which character you actually want to play.
9 Pick the Class That Sounds Fun, Not the One a Tier List Tells You to Like
Image Credit: NC/YouTubeYou will find plenty of class rankings around launch, particularly from people/content creators who have spent months with the Korean and Taiwanese versions. They can be useful later, but they are not something you need to build your entire first character around.

Maybe you like supporting the group or having another creature involved in your rotation. Pick the combat style you enjoy because you will be spending a lot of time with it.
8 Let the Main Quest Do Most of the Heavy Lifting
Image Credit: NC/YouTubeThere is a temptation in any MMO to immediately run off and start clearing everything you see. Aion 2 gives you plenty of things to investigate, but the main story is still the easiest way to understand what you should be doing early on.
Stick with the main quest and pick up nearby activities when they are convenient. You will naturally unlock more of the game’s systems as you progress, so there is little reason to chase every available activity at once. If the story is telling you where to go, there is usually a good reason for it!
7 Don’t Panic When Progression Slows Down Around Level 22
Image Credit: NCLevel 22 is an important point in the early progression because you cannot simply keep following the main path without dealing with an Ascension requirement. If you reach this point and suddenly feel like the game has stopped telling you what to do, you have not missed some giant secret.
This is exactly when it makes sense to check your journal and look at Regional Quests and nearby activities. Sealed Dungeons and other content can also become relevant here. Instead of repeatedly trying to push through the same objective, take a look at what the game has opened up around you.
6 Think Twice Before Deleting That Weird-Looking Material
Image Credit: NCYour inventory is going to fill up. That is inevitable in any MMORPG. The dangerous part is deciding that something must be useless simply because you have no idea what it does yet.
Some materials feed into progression systems later, while unwanted equipment can be extracted instead of simply thrown away. For example, Feathers are a type of item that may look insignificant when you first encounter them, but they are very much quite the opposite. All in all, if you don’t recognize something, at least check its description before deleting it.
5 Make Your Inventory Manage Itself
Image Credit: NCYou should not be spending half your play session sorting through equipment. Aion 2 does have Quick Storage and automatic extraction options that can take some of that work off your hands, so it is wise to start setting them up while you’re still early into the game.
Think about what you actually want to keep and let the game handle the disposable stuff where possible. This becomes especially useful once you start picking up equipment faster than you can reasonably inspect it. A few minutes spent setting up your inventory can save you a lot of pointless menu time.
4 Don’t Sink Resources Into Gear You Will Replace Tomorrow
Image Credit: NC/YouTubeOne of the easiest mistakes to make in any new MMO is getting attached to a piece of gear because you just spent resources improving it. Then the next dungeon gives you something better, and suddenly all those materials are gone for no good reason.
Early gear is there to get you through early content. Upgrade it when you need the extra power to keep progressing, but don’t feel compelled to squeeze every last bit of value from an item you are probably going to replace soon. Save the more valuable investment for gear that has some staying power.
3 Use This Flight Tech Whenever You Get the Chance
Image Credit: NCWhen you are gliding in Aion 2, you can use your movement abilities to keep your momentum instead of simply floating around until your flight power runs out. Bind your sprint and flight to keys that are easily accessible first, then activate flight and aim your camera slightly upward.

— 権田 (@GondaTera) October 1, 2026Hit sprint to build forward momentum, then cancel flight during the dash. Your character will keep moving forward while falling, but you are no longer spending flight power during that descent. Once you get the timing right, you can cover much more ground without burning through your flight gauge.
2 Spend Your Skill Progression Where You Actually Feel It
Image Credit: NCIt is easy to look at a new character’s skill menu and assume every ability deserves an upgrade. It does not. Pay attention to the attacks and abilities you find yourself using constantly, then prioritize those instead of spreading your resources evenly across everything.
The same idea applies to the Daevanion boards. They can improve skills and stats, so don’t treat every available node as equally important. Skill improvements that affect the abilities you rely on most are usually more immediately useful than grabbing nodes just for the sake of it.
1 Tweak These Settings Before You Start
Image Credit: NCThis might be the least glamorous piece of advice here, but it can make combat much easier to read. Go to Info Display > Combat > Display Boss Orientation Indicator and turn it on if your class relies on positional damage. Assassins benefit from seeing the boss’s back, while Gladiators and Templars need to know where its front is. You can also leave it on all the time if you prefer.
While you are in the settings, head to Graphics > Camera and turn off camera shake if you find it distracting. You can also change the Teleport Effect Color to dark instead of bright, which saves you from getting flashbanged every time you teleport.
Which of these Aion 2 tricks has been most useful during your first few hours? Have you found any other early-game habit that made progression noticeably easier? Let others know in the comments below!
