What To Expect From The Ramparts of Ice Episode 5?
Episode 5 is where I believe the series will truly hit its stride. Up until now, we’ve been viewing the “ramparts” mostly from seeing Hikawa as the “scary-faced” or the “ice queen” blonde girl who wants to be left alone.
Basically, Hikawa was bullied in middle school by a boy named Igarashi and his friends. This shaped her high school personality, where she minds her own business and is a loner. In Episode 4, Igarashi meets Minato during their high school soccer scrimmage (Mineta High & West In High). Hikawa sees the two of them together and assumes that Igarashi must’ve revealed her dark past to Minato.
So, in Episode 5, we can see Hikawa drifting away from him. Their friendship was still too new to have strong roots. So, expect a lot of emotional turmoil and anxiety-driven dynamics.
How Many Episodes Are in The Ramparts of Ice Season 1?

The original manga by Agasawa Kocha is quite dense, spanning 14 volumes and 117 chapters. A single 12-episode cour would barely scratch the surface of the character development required for a satisfying conclusion. Our bet? We are likely looking at a “split-cour” situation, similar to what the studio did with its sister series You and I Are Polar Opposites.
