That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 2 Review: A Great Deal of Problems With a Great Deal of Solutions

After a great start, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 2 aired on April 10, 2026, continuing the story of the country of Tempest and its diplomatic developments under Rimuru and his council. While the first episode covered the overall developments, Episode 2 largely focused on the dungeon.

It’s not an overreaction when we claim that Studio 8-bit continues to amaze us with the consistency of the animation quality and narrative delivery. While most of the credit goes to Fuse for the latter part, animation is a major make-or-break factor for any series nowadays, and things are only looking good for TenSura Season 4.

Masayuki’s Mishap Changes the Scene for the Country of Tempest

The episode starts with action from the get-go, as Masayuki and his party enter the 30th floor of the dungeon. While faced by monstrous beasts, the party members fight valiantly, while Masayuki stood in the background. However, as one of the monsters was about to ambush Jiwu, Masayauki gathered all his courage and charged towards it.

However, even before he reached his target, he tripped, and his sword broke. The tip of the sword went flying and coincidentally pierced the monster’s neck, defeating it and saving Jiwu. While Masayuki knew it was sheer dumb luck, others saw him as a valiant knight, and praises of his bravery spread around town, which also increased the local trades and promoted the dungeon even more.

Team Green Fury’s Dungeon Loophole Smells Trouble for Rimuru

While Masayuki’s bravery was well-received by Rimuru, another team created looming problems for them. A team called “Team Green Fury” has covered 20 floors of the dungeon in just three days. While everyone was concerned with the progress, Rimuru decided to let them keep moving forward – hindsight, not a good decision.

A few days later, when Rimuru was working in his lab, Shion and Shuna went to check on him and gave him food. They also informed that Gard was looking for him. As Rimuru met up with Gard, he was informed that Team Green Fury had made it to the 30th floor and would soon make it to the 40th floor as well.

As Rimuru and the others observed their method, they discovered that the team was exploiting a loophole in the dungeon. By using a Recording Crystal, a single-use save point that all members of a party can use, they use it right before entering the dungeon. Then they use the Return Whistle to leave the dungeon. Once the party is dissolved, each member comes back with 10 more members, creating a loop that results in an entire army.

Rimuru’s New Invention Might Be the Solution for the Dungeon

The main issue wasn’t that Team Green Fury was swiftly moving through the dungeon; it was that Hinata had already cleared all the bosses from the 60th floor onwards, up to the 90th floor. The only one she couldn’t defeat was Veldora on the 100th floor. Because of that, there were no bosses to present a challenge, and they needed to be reset.

While Rimuru sorted out the problem with the help of Ramiris and the others, he had other plans to stop Team Green Fury. Rimuru created pseudo souls and master cores – the pseudo souls can create any monster the holder imagines, and when fused with the master core, the user leaves their body and takes control of the manifested monster. Rimuru, Milim, Veldora, and Ramiris plan to intercept them on the 49th floor.

Coming to the overall verdict, I really liked the beautiful mixture of tension, comedy, liveliness, strategy, and action throughout the entire episode. Studio 8-bit continues to deliver a balanced animation with episodes that complement every part of the narrative. Additionally, the episode clearly intended to raise tension, and by the end, it did so.

The introduction of the Team Green Fury into the dungeons was a personal favourite touch for me – not only does it fractionally take away from the monotony of the diplomatic developments of the dungeons, but also adds a small antagonistic turn to it. All in all, it was a great episode, especially a great pivot from what happened in Episode 1 to what will happen in Episode 3.
