On Tuesday, Ontario Provincial Police said a 29-year-old Mississauga man was arrested and charged in the slaying of David Robson, a 65-year-old Melancthon man whose body was found in the area of Chinguacousy Rd. and King St. on the morning of April 1, 2024.

The victim was last seen in his hometown north of Orangeville on March 21, 2024 and was reported missing, along with his vehicle, four days later.
On the same date Robson was reported missing, his home was damaged in a fire, police said.
Jacek Trela was charged with first-degree murder, arson, and indignity to a body.
“While an arrest has been made in connection with the homicide of David Robson, we believe other individuals may be involved,” Det.-Insp. Mark Allison said in a news release earlier in the week. “We continue to urge anyone with information to contact police.
“Our goal is to hold all those responsible for David’s death accountable and provide answers to his family.”
Cold case suddenly turned hot
It didn’t take long for investigators to nab a second suspect in the cold case that suddenly turned hot.
On Wednesday, police said Piotr Olszewski, a 42-year-old man from Toronto, was arrested and charged with arson and accessory after the fact to murder.
The arrests followed a fresh appeal by OPP investigators when a billboard ad in late March went up outside Orangeville with Robson’s photo seeking more information into his death.
The OPP said at the time that they did not believe there was a risk to the public’s safety as they did not consider Robson’s death to be random.
