It’s been a while since gamers have enjoyed a fresh installment of their favorite Rhythm Heaven series. Fortunately enough, Nintendo has finally decided to mark a return of this series after a decade, and has officially announced Rhythm Heaven Groove to release on July 2, 2026.
This franchise delivers exactly what the name suggests: a game that has everything to do with music and beats, putting it in a niche, yet one of the most enjoyable genres of gaming ever. Looking forward to Rhythm Heaven Groove? Here’s everything we know about it so far.

As for the answer everyone has been waiting for, Rhythm Heaven Groove will be released on July 2, 2026, as revealed in the game’s latest promotional material by Nintendo on their official social media channels.
— Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) April 9, 2026The account shares a snippet of what the game will look like, and the official pre-order page reveals a $39.99 price tag for a digital copy. The last entry in the franchise was released in 2015, so it’s been a long wait for fans of these music-based minigames.
If you’re planning to grab a physical copy, the pre-order page confirms it’ll be available in the US for the same $39.99 price as digital.
Rhythm Heaven Groove to Feature the Signature Groovy Minigames
A part of the upcoming game has been teased | Credit: TNXThe best part about the upcoming installment in one of the most criminally underrated Nintendo game series is that it sticks to exactly how the previous entries have felt. Rhythm Heaven Groove will follow right in the footsteps of the signature minigames of the franchise, with players rushing to complete a series of challenges in tune with the music.
The latest reveal for the game also reveals one of the many new minigames players will be able to enjoy in the upcoming title. The posts portrayed a minigame titled Slice N Dice Kitchen, which is practically Fruit Ninja, except that instead of cutting fruits, you are catching veggies and cutting them to the beat of the music.
The game will also include visual cues to improve accessibility for a wider audience. However, the best experience still comes from playing in sync with the music’s rhythm.
There’s also a ranking feature waiting for you in the game. Depending on how well you perform to the beat of the game, you can get either “Try Again”, “OK”, or “Superb”, which depict a failing grade, a passing grade, or an excellent grade, respectively. The Superb rank will also earn players a medal, which can be used to unlock additional game modes in Rhythm Heaven Groove.
Which Platforms Will Have Rhythm Heaven Groove on Release Day?
Rhythm Heaven Groove to arrive on limited platforms | Credit: TNXRight now, Rhythm Heaven Groove is confirmed exclusively for the original Nintendo Switch, with compatibility for the updated Switch 2 surprisingly showing up as “untested” on the storefront. The game will launch with music produced by the renowned Japanese musician Tsunku, who has worked on the franchise before.
Unfortunately, apart from the original Switch and a very possible release on the Switch 2, there are no other platforms that have been announced to be receiving the game, keeping the series Nintendo-exclusive and continuing the legacy.
Whether you plan to play it docked on your TV or in handheld mode on the go, July 2 is the date to mark on your calendar. Planning to grab this one? Drop your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned for more updates.
