In the latest episode, Mami spilled the beans in front of everyone, revealing that Chizuru is a rental girlfriend. Furthermore, after painting Chizuru as the villain, she made herself a victim as well.

At the end of the episode, Kazuya’s grandmother said that she cannot forgive Chizuru for lying to her grandmother until her very last breath, to which Kazuya, who was silent the entire episode, finally spoke up. He said, “Chizuru is not that kind of person”.

In the final few seconds, we got a Kazuya monologue in which he basically said this would be a horrible time and place to confess. Perhaps, in the next episode, Kazuya will try to calm the situation down by confessing his love to Chizuru in front of everyone. I don’t know how that would help, though.

Furthermore, he said this will be the final lie, so it is possible he will lie again. “Chizuru is a rental girlfriend, but we are a real couple”, is where I can see the lie go. Even if that would bring the story back full circle.
