Ontario man who pimped out and impregnated a teen sentenced to one more day in jail

“He served 44 days of his sentence in lockdown at the Maplehurst Detention Centre. He was also triple bunked for 49 days. He is entitled to mitigation of his sentence for that fact. The terrible conditions of incarceration which persist at that institution are all too well known,” the judge wrote in his decision.

Canadian woman on expired visa caught with a dozen fake IDs, Florida police say

The woman was charged with the fraudulent use of personal information, giving a false name to deputies and not having a valid driver’s licence. Police say of the dozen fake IDs, 11 were Pennsylvania driver’s licences, one was from Georgia and all of them “contained the same photograph of the defendant, but each with different names and birthdays.”

When it comes to its forests, Canada has a scale problem: it has far more forest, fewer people, and remote boreal areas where lightning-started fires can be nearly impossible to reach. But the experts say that even if Canada is able to start managing its forests properly, with rising temperatures “we are going to be living with more and more fire.”
