How Many Episodes Does Petals of Reincarnation Have?
Although the Blu-Ray & DVD listing for the anime isn’t officially out yet (which is how the number of episodes is usually confirmed), leaks from the anime & manga leaker, @SugoiLITE on X, suggest that Petals of Reincarnation Season 1 will consist of 13 episodes, which is quite typical for most seasonal anime. However, for further confirmation on the anime’s exact episode count, we have to wait till the official site updates anything.
Thus, we can’t entirely discard the possibility of Petals of Reincarnation airing fewer episodes. Also, the first season is expected to run for a single cour, i.e., from April to June. However, if Season 1 is received well by the viewers, then the studio might adapt further seasons of the manga.
However, such an assumption isn’t worth giving attention to until the official episode count gets announced. Also, in case you’re wondering why we are addressing the adaptation as Season 1, it’s because the anime has the potential to be renewed for more seasons in the future.

What Is Petals of Reincarnation Even About?
Touya and Haito as seen in a still from the Petals of Reincarnation anime | Credits: BENTEN Film Whenever a story meddles with historical figures from our own world, it immediately becomes subject to controversy. The same happened with Record of Ragnarok in the past, and also to some extent with the Fate series. And now, Petals of Reincarnation falls into the same category.
The story focuses on a power system based on historical figures reincarnating in the modern world. Those said figures are then addressed as “Returners”. While the Returners can be famous individuals from the past like Einstein, Newton, Musashi, and others, the opposite can also be summoned through this power. This results in the formation of a terrorist organization known as Sinners, made up of Returners like Hitler, Pol Pot, Vlad III, and many more.
Now, as you can already guess, this leads to a rather unconventional plot that may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But one thing the series does well is that it never shies away from what it is trying to convey. Despite the plot being controversial for valid reasons, it uses these characters simply as the basis of the power system.
Also, on a broader scale, the story is mostly about the MC Touya’s revenge against his elder brother, Seiya, who constantly belittled him for having no talent. So, with his newfound Returner ability, he wishes to surpass his brother in an edgy, action-filled storyline. All of this makes the controversial aspect less central to the main plot. However, seeing a loli version of Hitler will never not be hilarious.
Is There a Trailer for Petals of Reincarnation?
There have been multiple trailers released for Petals of Reincarnation so far. However, for most seasonal anime, the final trailer released right before the anime’s premiere is usually the most informative. Here’s the full trailer in case you’ve missed it:
The trailer not only gives us an idea of the series’ plot, but it also manages to hook viewers with its distinct art style and catchy background soundtrack. The introduction of the members of the Forest of the Greats has been phenomenal, but what has caused the most controversy is the cameo of Adolf Hitler in the trailer.
While fans already had an idea that this was bound to happen, seeing it come alive in animation was still a shock for most of the fan base. Even manga readers have been hyped about it. The trailer also sets up a clear goal and the protagonist’s core motivation. Touya’s revenge against those who looked down on him is soon to take place. The first between the Greats and the Sinners is only starting.

Is Petals of Reincarnation Based on an Actual Manga?
Adolf Hitler from the Petals of Reincarnation manga | Credits: MAG GardenYes, the Petals of Reincarnation anime is adapted from an actual manga, created by Mikihisa Konishi. The manga started publishing on May 30, 2014, and it is still ongoing as of now. So far, a total of 23 volumes of the manga have been released, which comprises 118 chapters. The manga’s release schedule, however, isn’t as weekly as you’d expect.
The manga chapters are released in every 4 weeks, meaning one per month. The official publisher of the manga is now Mag Garden, and it is available to read in English as well.
