A new One Piece theory suggests that Devil Fruits, Haki, Nika, Joy Boy’s promise, Imu’s new power, and even the Void Century are all manifestations of a single source of energy. This theory by VenyGma titled “The Energy of All Things,” which states that “Musubi” may be the missing element behind all these supernatural systems in One Piece. In simple terms, it basically represents the force that allows spirit to exist within matter and keeps it there after the source is gone.
The theory starts with a line from Chapter 218, where Willie Gallon says, “Everything that humans can imagine is a possibility in reality,” which connects nicely with Vegapunk’s Chapter 1069 theory that Devil Fruits are created from human desires and represent possible futures of human evolution. Let us get into the important details about this new theory.

Vegapunk’s Devil Fruit explanation in One Piece changed everything to an even bigger mystery. He explained that Devil Fruits are the representations of what people wish they could become, and it also gave the reason behind the sea rejecting those “abnormal” evolutions as something outside nature’s intended order.
All these sound very simple at first, but still, it does not explain how those wishes turn into physical fruits. It also does not explain why Devil Fruits reincarnate, why some Zoans have wills of their own, or why the World Government had to rename Luffy’s fruit to the Gomu Gomu no Mi rather than allow its true nature to remain known.
This is where this new One Piece theory, “Musubi,” gets interesting. This theory explains that Devil Fruits are not just “dreams made real” in a poetic sense. They are basically physical manifestations of these dreams through a binding energy – human desire, collective belief, and lineage factor all combine until a fruit emerges in the world that possesses the power to rewrite a person’s body.
This would also explain why Vegapunk could copy effects but could not make a genuine Devil Fruit from scratch. His Kaido artificial fruit and Green Blood can copy the effects, but they do not seem to replicate a true reincarnation cycle. Thus, genetics is not the missing link here alone – rather, it is that spiritual component that lets a power survive beyond one body.
The Truth Behind Nika’s Reality-Bending Power
A still from the One Piece anime. | Credit: Toei Animation Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Nika Model is the cleanest example of this theory, as it behaves less like a common Zoan and more like a legend that managed to occupy a body, with Nika being described as a legendary warrior linked to Elbaf folklore, and something that the World Government tried to erase. The fruit gives its owner Nika’s attributes and was thus renamed by the World Government to hide the truth about this Devil Fruit.
This matters because Luffy’s power was never just about obtaining “rubber” abilities. After awakening, the fruit’s true nature becomes clearer – Luffy does not simply stretch. The power of Gear 5 turns the world around him into a cartoon-like playground, where imagination becomes reality.
Hence, the strongest argument this theory provides is that Nika’s legend became so powerful that it was preserved inside a fruit. That legend was carried by Joy Boy in the Void Century. Now, Luffy carries that legend. Thus, the “Sun God” is not one man but a recurring role passed through the fruit’s cycle.
That also explains why this fruit was feared by the World Government for centuries. They were not just afraid of rubber powers. Rather, they were afraid of the return of a belief system that could undo the world Imu built.
Haki Might Be More Than Just Willpower
Monkey D Luffy from One Piece. | Credit: Toei AnimationHaki is where this “Musubi” theory becomes even stronger. In Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, Haki is the physical manifestation of willpower. Observation Haki can feel the presence and the intent of others. Armament Haki either hardens or expands outward as a form of force. Conqueror’s Haki, on the other hand, subdues all other wills with the spiritual pressure of the user.
Chapter 1122 gave this idea a massive boost when Emet released Joy Boy’s Supreme King (Conqueror’s) Haki from a knot that was sealed within its body more than 800 years ago. That Haki was powerful enough to make the Five Elders retreat and Imu feel pain from Mary Geoise.
That particular scene is almost too important to overlook. Joy Boy did not just leave a message. Instead, he left a part of his will that was physically bound to another being. This way, the “Haki” is not something metaphorical, as it can be stored, sealed, and later released after centuries. Thus, it is a transfer of energy/spirit.
The idea of Voice of All Things fits here as well. Roger, Oden, Luffy, and Momonosuke do not merely “sense” things. This theory treats them as the hearing of Musubi as language.
Imu’s Omen Might Be Haki’s Dark Opposite
Imu uses the “Omen” power in One Piece. | Credit: Shueisha One of the most exciting assumptions of this One Piece theory is that Imu’s new power, “Omen,” which was introduced recently in One Piece Chapter 1180, is the tainted version of Haki. The theory points out that the Japanese word used for Omen is Maki (魔気), which means “demon aura,” with the same 気 (energy/breath) component as 覇気 Haki, in it.
All these make Imu terrifying in a very specific way! Haki is the will expressed without any restrictions. Omen, or Maki in this theory, could be the “will” imposed unnaturally. It is not the aura of a king inspiring or overpowering others through personal spirit. Instead, this is the aura of a devil binding others through a stolen system.
This also makes Imu the perfect counterbalance to Luffy. Luffy’s Nika power liberates bodies, environments, and emotions. Imu’s powers, on the other hand, seem to dominate, distort, and erase. If Luffy represents “Musubi” as a bond that is freely tied, Imu may represent “Musubi” as a knot that is forced.
The One Piece Might Be the World’s Final Key
Joy Boy and the giant robot Emet in One Piece. | Credit:- Toei AnimationThe theory’s final idea is that the actual One Piece may be the “musubi” of the story as well – the point where everything that has been separated finally comes together again. The One Piece theory connects this to the Japanese phrase of “hitotsu-nagi,” where the treasure can imply either a connected world, a rope linking people, or one peaceful sea.
This also fits the story’s biggest visual problem – the world is physically split. The Red Line divides oceans. The World Government separates races, histories, islands, and truths. Joy Boy’s promise failed because the world could no longer “meet.”
So maybe the One Piece is not just gold, a weapon, or a funny thing. Rather, One Piece may stand for all those things and something else at the same time. If Pluton, Poseidon, Uranus, the Poneglyphs, Joy Boy’s promise, and Nika’s return are all bits of the same plan, then One Piece might just be the mechanism that closes the knot.
And that would make Luffy’s role perfectly simple. He is not here to become god – he is here to do what Nika, Joy Boy, and everyone before him could not finish – free the world by making it whole again.
This theory works perfectly because it does not treat Devil Fruits, Haki, Nika, Imu, and the Void Century as separate mysteries but rather binds them around one common idea – imagination, belief, and will can become real if they are bound strongly enough.
Vegapunk provided the scientific door. Nika gave the mythological evidence. Joy Boy’s Haki knot gave the mechanical proof. Imu’s Omen may now be showing the corrupted version of that same principle.
And if this is even close to the truth, then One Piece‘s final treasure may not be about owning the world, but rather untying the false world Imu created and finally binding everyone back together.
What is the “Energy of All Things” theory in One Piece?
The theory suggests that a single energy – often interpreted as “Musubi” - connects Devil Fruits, Haki, and ancient powers and acts as the force that converts human desire and will into reality.
How does Nika support the idea that belief can become power?
Luffy’s Nika form exhibits abilities that defy standard Devil Fruit logic, suggesting that the fruit represents a legend created through mass mythos rather than mere biological transformation.
Could Imu’s Omen be related to Haki?
Some theories suggest Omen may be a “corrupted” or “controlled” version of Haki, meaning that both Haki and Omen draw power from the same source of energy, but Omen is more overpowering and unnatural as it tries to impose control on this energy.
