If you have been keeping up with One Piece lately, then you know already – we are officially in the endgame now. In fact, each chapter is more important, bigger, and heavier than ever before, which means missing out on any chapters is not an option anymore.
But here is something else to consider – One Piece is not strictly a weekly manga anymore – rather, it goes through cycles. As soon as you understand what that cycle means, the release schedule will actually make a lot more sense – and you will not be caught off guard every time there is a break. Let us explore in detail.
Expected One Piece Chapter Release Schedule and Break Explained
One Piece follows a weekly release pattern with new chapters typically published in Weekly Shonen Jump. Meanwhile, International readers can access official English translations through platforms like Manga Plus and VIZ.

- Sunday mornings (in the US and other major regions)
- Monday late night (in Japan) based on time zone differences.
However, Eiichiro Oda usually drops 2-3 chapters, then takes a break. On top of that, Weekly Shonen Jump itself goes on break during holidays. So, based on this historical release pattern, here is the confirmed and expected release timeline of One Piece manga chapters in 2026.

Now let us talk about the breaks, because honestly, there are so many of them. This is not done randomly – let us not forget that Eiichiro Oda has been drawing weekly manga since 1997 (and that is crazy). These breaks are scheduled so that he does not get exhausted and is able to keep up with the amount of detail and quality storytelling that is expected of One Piece.
However, not all of the breaks are because of Oda – some are because of Weekly Shonen Jump (and that is especially true during the Golden Week, Obon, and New Year holidays). In other words, do not think of these breaks as delays – instead, think of them as a structured release cycle.

In One Piece Chapter 1179, Imu stops being a shadowy figure sitting on a throne and actually becomes an active presence. And not just active – terrifying. The chapter shows Imu arriving in Elbaf, and the vibe completely changes. This is not something like normal Haki or anything we have seen before – it is truly something different.
The reactions from the Five Elders also show how significant Imu’s presence is. They are terrified, and you can tell they are uncertain about what they should do in this situation. There are also hints that Imu’s power is not just another typical Devil Fruit. It feels older, deeper – like it ties directly into the core mysteries of the world.
Basically, Chapter 1179 accomplishes three significant things in a minimal amount of time. It raises the power ceiling while signaling that we are officially in the final stretch of the story. And yeah, this is clearly setting up Imu’s inevitable clash with Monkey D. Luffy and Loki.
More importantly, every chapter now means something. There is no “filler” feeling anymore. Everything is moving toward the conclusion. And with Imu finally stepping into the spotlight, are we about to see the truth of the world finally exposed, or does Oda have another huge twist up his sleeve? Share your thoughts in the comments section below, and we would love to hear them.
