Spoiler Alert !!!
This article contains some spoilers from One Piece Chapter 1180.
One Piece Chapter 1180 moved the final saga in a big way! Imu directly attacks Elbaf and reveals a new ability called “Omen“, which overpowers giants and even casually shuts down Zoro and Sanji. At the same time, the chapter revealed the real intention behind Imu’s arrival in Elbaf regarding Harald, and that changed this random invasion into a very personal battle.
Previously, in One Piece Chapter 1179, we saw Imu stop being a shadowy figure and appear directly on the battlefield. With this chapter, Eiichiro Oda basically highlighted Imu’s overwhelming power as no one in Elbaf was able to stop Imu’s advance. Imu just dominated the chapter from the start, with only ending with Loki finally stepping in as Elbaf’s last hope. Let us explore in detail.
One Piece Chapter 1180 Ending: Loki Steps In as Elbaf’s Last Hope
At the end of One Piece Chapter 1180, Imu makes it known that he has been looking for someone linked to Harald’s death 14 years ago. Imu refers to Harald as a servant, but Loki immediately rejects that claim.

Then, Loki firmly declared that Harald was Loki’s father and the former king of Elbaf. This now creates a direct clash between the two, and the situation became a lot more personal. Loki then steps forward and identifies himself as the one Imu is looking for.
Until this point in the chapter, Elbaf’s forces were already down against Imu, and the Straw Hats had not made any impact. As a result, right now, Loki becomes the only active opposition to Imu. This sets up a direct confrontation between the two and positions Loki as the central figure for the Elbaf side going forward.
Imu’s ‘Omen’ Power Breaks the One Piece Power System
Right away, upon entering the battlefield, Imu dominates Gerd, Hajrudin, and other Elbaf giants, eliminating them all easily. Stansen was severely injured while trying to save Hajrudin. Zoro uses “King of Hell Three Sword Style: Purgatory Onigiri,” but Imu blocks it very easily by using the tail. And then comes the main twist, “Omen”. Imu fires it at Zoro. Zoro was not just stopped – he was simply dismissed by Imu.

When Imu uses “Omen” for the first time, it appears as a small black flame forming in Imu’s palm. However, within just a few panels, it demonstrates that it is indeed one of the most unpredictable abilities we have seen so far in One Piece. The most shocking thing was that Imu uses that same power to restore Sommers instantly.
That is where things get weird. Devil Fruits usually do not work like this, and Haki can enhance physical and spiritual strength, but it usually cannot create something like this. Omen does both destruction and restoration at the same time and switches between them very effortlessly. Additionally, the presence of that black ring with eye patterns behind Imu, probably formed from the same flames, further hints that this new ability might work very differently from existing power systems.
Imu also spreads these flames across Elbaf, causing large-scale destruction. This confirms that the ability is effective in both close and long-distance combat. After overpowering Zoro and other Elbaf giants, Imu spread black wings and flew from there and arrived at Sanji’s location. Sanji tries to stop Imu, but fails to land a meaningful hit and is countered immediately.
Overall, “Omen” introduces a new type of power that does not follow previously established rules in One Piece. Via One Piece Chapter 1180, Oda establishes Imu as an active force with a power that goes beyond our current understanding.
At the same time, Loki is introduced as the only character at this point who is directly opposing Imu with a personal connection to the conflict. The chapter sets up Loki vs Imu as the next major development while raising questions about the nature of “Omen” and its place in the overall power structure of the series.
