The likes of Johnny Carson, Jay Leno and David Letterman are long gone but not forgotten. I used to go to bed after Carson — now it’s more like after the Wheel. I dont like the brand of humour these days and l can only take small doses of it because it’s personal and has a nasty edge to it. And they aren’t funny like a Russell Peters. Today’s hosts have their moments, but when they have one target, they fragment their audience. There’s certainly enough subject matter throughout the political spectrum to keep a creative comic going for years. It’s beneath both the comic and the target to get involved on a personal level, and they do so at their peril.

DEMOCRACY IN CUBA
Like an old soldier not ready to fade away, the leadership of Cuba wants to go down with the Cuban people in front of them to their last breath. The regime the leadership represents has had its day and failed. Now, if the United Nations would stop meddling in other countries’ belly button lint to accommodate special interest groups that cause nothing but issues without resolve worldwide, perhaps the UN can really do something once and for all again. Time for a supervised election in Cuba using a peacekeeping force. Or will this be a declaration of DRIPA (Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act) for the people of Cuba, like the major problems caused in Canada where people couldn’t remortgage their homes. Now Canadians are starting to wonder why we have or want a United Nations.

(The UN causes more problems than it helps to resolve. It’s a dumping ground for leaders of nations with despots and dictators uninterested in real global issues)
