INNER STRENGTH
It should be clear to Canadians and their politicians that Donald Trump’s goal is to weaken Canada so badly that he can absorb us into the U.S.A., a real war without a shot being fired. We are not a business that he can buy and later close or collapse. We are a nation and need to be seriously counter-offensive against this bully even if it hurts us in the short term. Trump will not be around long. We need to fight back hard and tough on trade and money matters.

SENTENCING MATTERS
Re “U.K. man gets 3 1/2 years (Scott Dunn, July 12): This is exactly why Canada has an influx of criminals coming to Canada! Our judges kow-tow to the perpetrators and ignore the will of the law-abiding citizens — which is to actually punish the people who commit the crimes. As per the judge when rendering the sentence, ‘The law requires a sentence proportionate to the gravity of the offence and the degree of responsibility of the offender.’ Well, the responsibility rests solely on the convicted and in this instance, the sentence is not even close to “the gravity of the offence.”
