Latest GTA 6 Leak Reveals a Dark Souls Easter Egg

The Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6)leaks are certainly giving us an early look at the game’s world, but the video game store leak from yesterday gives FromSoftware fans something to get excited about. The leaked clip shows Jason visiting a fictional video game store, where players have spotted a game called Glory Souls 2 sitting on one of the shelves.

As the name suggests, the fictional game seems to be Rockstar’s playful reference to Dark Souls 2. This is another reference to a real-world game inside GTA 6, which already appears to be packed with parodies of popular video games. Most people are focused on the existence of a physical game store and its contrast with Rockstar’s own approach to physical releases, but the shelves are packed with tons of smaller details.

GTA 6’s Game Store Is Packed With Video Game References

The latest leaked clip shows Jason entering a store called Game Horde, a fictional retailer filled with consoles, accessories, and physical game boxes. Jason can apparently examine the shelves, with several of the fictional games referencing recognizable titles from the real world.

Among them is Glory Souls 2, an unmistakable nod to Dark Souls 2. The title isn’t the only thing that makes the reference apparent, either. Fans have pointed out that its branding appears to borrow from the distinctive visual language associated with FromSoftware’s games, making the parody particularly easy to spot.

The store also has recognizable references as well. We can also see fictional games inspired by titles such as Elden Ring and Returnal, while another appears to reference The Last of Us. There is also a returning fictional title connected to GTA Online.

We don’t know how many of these games are simply environmental jokes and whether players will be able to interact with them beyond examining their boxes.

The Leak Arrives Just Before GTA 6’s Extended Look

The discovery of Glory Souls 2 is only one small part of a much larger leak. The Game Horde footage also shows Jason browsing merchandise and examining various products, including phone cases, earbuds, and headphones. These details have prompted speculation about how much more functionality Rockstar could give players when interacting with stores and phones.

Perhaps the most ironic element of the footage, however, is the store’s focus on physical games. GTA 6 itself is being sold through physical retail channels, but its physical edition is expected to contain a digital download code rather than an actual game disc. That has already sparked discussion about game ownership and preservation.

Rockstar Games is preparing to officially show more of GTA 6 tomorrow. An extended presentation is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET, with a wider release planned afterward. The game itself remains scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
