The return was confirmed through Weekly Shonen Jump‘s upcoming issue lineup, with Chapter 411 scheduled to appear in Japan on June 29 while becoming available globally through Manga Plus on June 28 in many international regions because of time zone differences. The new chapter also arrives shortly before the release of Volume 39 as revealed by the official X account of Hunter X Hunter, making late June and early July particularly significant for longtime readers.

Hunter x Hunter Returns After an 18-Month Manga Hiatus

The previous chapter, Chapter 410, was published on December 8, 2024, on VIZ Media before the manga entered another hiatus. That break has now stretched to roughly 18 months, making Chapter 411 the series’ first new installment since then.

Long publication gaps have become a familiar part of Hunter x Hunter‘s history. Since its debut in 1998, Togashi’s manga has experienced several extended hiatuses, with Shueisha previously confirming that future serialization would prioritize the author’s circumstances rather than adhering to a fixed weekly schedule. Chapter 411 resumes serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump and continues one of the manga’s most intricate storylines. Where the Manga and Anime Stories Stand Right Now

Anime-only viewers still have a substantial gap before catching up with the manga. The 2011 television adaptation concludes with Episode 148, adapting the end of the Chairman Election arc after Gon’s confrontation with Neferpitou and his reunion with Ging. Although the anime references the Dark Continent, it ends before adapting the story’s next major saga.

The manga has since moved into the Dark Continent Expedition and the ongoing Succession Contest storyline aboard the Black Whale, where Kurapika takes center stage amid a deadly political struggle involving the Kakin royal family, competing princes, Nen users, and several familiar factions. The arc expands the series’ political intrigue and strategic battles while laying the foundation for the eventual journey toward the mysterious Dark Continent.

Despite the manga’s return, there still is not enough completed source material to comfortably produce a full new anime adaptation. Since the anime concluded around Chapter 339 and the manga is now resuming with Chapter 411, the available content remains relatively limited for a long-running television continuation. As a result, no official announcement for a new Hunter x Hunter anime has been made. However, fans suspect that the anime could make a comeback using a strategy like Solo Leveling.
