Jamie Foxx gets emotional while opening up about mystery illness which almost killed him

After a serious medical emergency in 2023, Jamie Foxx returned to the stage in a heartfelt performance earlier this month.

The 56-year-old Oscar winner marked his comeback with One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx, a one-man show in Atlanta, which will feature in an upcoming Netflix special.

The performance was Foxx's first in 18 years, and the actor became emotional as he reflected on his near-death experience.

In a moving Instagram post, Foxx shared photos from the show, including a powerful image of him wiping away tears on stage.

Another image captured a tender moment between Foxx and his 16-year-old daughter, Anelise, who played guitar during the event.

"God is good... my heart and soul are filled with nothing but pure joy," Foxx wrote as a caption.

Overcoming a life-threatening health issue

Foxx's return comes after a mysterious health emergency in April 2023, which led to a 20-day coma. His daughter, Corinne, initially informed fans that her father had suffered a "medical complication," but reassured everyone that he was on the path to recovery.

In April 2024, Foxx revealed that the emergency followed him taking Advil for a headache, though he admitted he has no memory of the incident.

In December 2023, Foxx opened up further during his first public appearance after the health scare, admitting that he "saw the tunnel" but never saw the light. He described the near-death experience as life-changing.

"I cherish every single minute now, it's different," Foxx declared.

Foxx, visibly moved, shared his appreciation for the support he received and joked about some of the wild conspiracy theories that circulated during his absence.

"I'm not a clone," he joked.

Though Foxx has kept most details of the medical emergency private, he has slowly returned to work, resuming his role as host of Beat Shazam alongside his daughter Corinne. He also proudly walked her down the aisle at her wedding, showing how far he has come since his health crisis.
