It has been confirmed that the BBC is making a documentary on the life and career of J.K. Rowling. According to Deadline, the first episode will spotlight the creation of Harry Potter and the success that the wizarding universe received, thanks to Rowling. The documentary will also feature never-before-seen interviews from people working with J.K. Rowling.
The Harry Potter author will not be interviewed for the documentary, but she is aware that it is being produced. Naturally, this seems to highlight the paradoxical relationship that the author shares with the BBC.
J.K. Rowling Has Mixed Relations With BBC

In fact, the authoress has even collaborated with the channel on adapting her Strike novels. However, she has had a mixed relationship with the broadcasting company because of her personal views.
Rowling has been known for her anti-trans views, and it is because of her views that she has been critical of the corporation’s reporting on the matter. Simon Young, the BBC’s head of history commissioning, said that there’s no better time for the BBC to explore J.K. Rowling’s life than thirty years after the publication of the first Harry Potter book (via Deadline).
Naturally, with all the things that will potentially be a part of the BBC documentary, it seems that J.K. Rowling (the working title of the two-part documentary) will be quite controversial.
Why The J.K. Rowling Documentary Will Be a Controversial Release

Per Deadline, the second episode will focus on her interventions on Scottish independence, feminism, free speech, and gender identity. Because of her opinions and claims, J.K. Rowling has increasingly found herself on the wrong side of the internet.
There have already been several controversies surrounding the British author, and it seems that the upcoming documentary might just shed a fresh spotlight on it again. The documentary will be released in December next year, making its entry after the release of the first season of the upcoming Harry Potter reboot.
