Iran producing ballistic missiles again, long after Operation Epic Fury ended: report

The U.S. was engaged in this conflict on two fronts: one, at the request of Israel, and one in right of self-defence.

Iran is making ballistic missiles, once again.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal on Thursday, Tehran is manufacturing both liquid- and solid-fuel missiles, negating what the United States called a major accomplishment of Operation Epic Fury. 

“As President Trump has said, the United States is watching Iran and has eyes on their every move,” a White House official told The New York Post. 

The primary goal of Epic Fury was to “destroy Iranian offensive missiles, destroy Iranian missile production, destroy [Iran’s] navy and other security infrastructure,” and, finally, ensure that Iran “will never have nuclear weapons,” the U.S. State Department said back in April.   

The U.S. was engaged in this conflict on two fronts: one, at the request of Israel, and one in right of self-defence. The operation was launched on Feb. 28 of this year and ended on May 5. 

U.S. claims 85% of Iran’s defence flattened

The bombings struck at the heart of Iran’s leadership in the early days of the conflict when Ali Khamenei was killed on Feb. 28, triggering retaliatory missiles and thousands of drones from Iran across the Middle East.

Khamenei served as the second supreme leader of Iran from 1989 until his assassination.  

The attacks have left enormous damage, thousands of people dead in Iran, Lebanon, Israel, and the Gulf Arab states, and millions of people displaced in the region. 

Liquid missiles are fueled just before launching, while solid-fuel missiles can be stored for later use.  

The U.S. government claims that 85% of Iran’s defence industrial base was flattened during the offensive, hereby destroying most of Iran’s ballistic missiles, launcher vehicles, and long-range attack drones.  

Based on Thursday’s report, it appears some of Iran’s missile-making capability endured the bombings, with Tehran using leftover components instead of enacting a new supply line. 

According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, Americans are unhappy with the war, with 25% supporting it.  

Trump is steadfast about his actions.  

“I don’t believe in the word regret,” he told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham. “You can always question yourself a little bit. And a few people have asked me that. If I had it to do again, I’d do exactly as I did.”
