Throughout the last two decades, Survivor has managed to keep the audience hooked with its gripping intensity. Former player of the show, Sue Hawk had made some serious allegations against the first winner of the show Richard Hatch. What adds more intrigue is the fact that host Jeff Probst was aware of this situation all along.

Richard Hatch’s Controversial Survival History

Being the very first winner of Survivor brought a lot of fame for Richard Hatch, despite him rubbing everyone the wrong way. But this was further escalated when fellow contestant, Sue Hawk brought some serious allegations against Hatch. This brought the winner to the center of everyone’s attention.

Hawk made a startling claim that Hawk had “s*xually violated” her during a challenge. The contestant was already quite known for participating in tasks n*de and had allegedly brushed up against her. Further, this prompted her to discuss the entire ordeal with host Jeff Probst and she told him that “I was ss*xually violated, humiliated, dehumanized and totally spent.”

The trauma of the same made her so distressed that she voluntarily decided to leave the show. However, later she also reflected that the duo has buried the hatchet and “come to terms” with the entire past drama. Interestingly, even after this allegation he was not removed from the show.

More, so even Probst was aware of the allegations beforehand, but no necessary steps were taken against Hatch. Adding to this, he also fully denied the accusations that Hawk had brought against him in 2019. Further, he went as far as to express no remorse about his decision to play the game n*de.

When it comes to consistency, no other host can beat Jeff Probst. He has been a loyal part of Survivor since 2000 and has now also taken over the showrunner duties. However, with this huge popularity, Probst opened up about one significant drawback of hosting the show. In an interview via In Touch, Probst detailed that because of the show he spends a lot of time away from his family.

On being asked the “hardest challenge” of hosting the show. He replied “Leaving. Leaving home. And that is not a woe is me that’s just the truth.” Interestingly, on the personal front, he has been married to Lisa Ann Russell since 2011 and he’s also a stepfather to her two kids.

The host also added that filming two seasons of the show every year, takes most of his time. He further added:

I love my family, I love my life at home, the comfort of a cup of coffee and my routine, and every time I have to leave I remind myself, that’s the reason you get to get up and have a cup of coffee is this amazing show you get to do.

The show is currently airing its 47th season and Probst has already talked about its 50th milestone. All in all, he remains committed to fully deliver his showrunner duties by making each season even better than the last one.

You can watch Survivor in Hulu.
