Amidst the same, multiple past stories are also being unearthed in the loving memory of the former One Direction bandmate.

One of the most disturbing stories, out of them all, was that of the first time that the late heartthrob first met Sean Combs in the vicinity of Jay-Z and Leonardo DiCaprio. And from the way he described it, the entire incident was nothing short of a nightmare – both for Payne, back then, and for fans, as they recall it amidst the current controversy surrounding P Diddy.

Sean Combs has been making some serious headlines as of late amidst his arrest in Manhattan following all the innumerable allegations, lawsuits, and charges against him. Apparently, one of the most major unfathomable crimes he has been accused of is the alleged infliction of s-xual harassment and abuse on young talents under him while inappropriately grooming them.

That said, obviously, when fans realized that artists like Justin Bieber had to spend the young years of their lives and careers around the now-disgraced music mogul, they were badly disturbed and devastated by it all. But the worst part of it all seems to be the fact that even one former massively talented One Direction member had to go through an awkward encounter with Combs.

As Payne himself confessed, initially on The Graham Norton Show, it all happened during an event where Combs’ was present with his golden trio of DiCaprio and Beyonce’s husband.

But as he built up the courage to go and talk to the record producer cum executive, the Familiar singer was soon to realize that he was in for an incredibly awkward and creepy turn of events.

During a later appearance on First We Feast’s Hot Ones challenge, the late singer shared of the time he met Combs, saying: “In that scenario, I just offered out a friendly hand and I just was greeted by Diddy’s low steady laugh. [Does a creepy, dark laugh] It was the most weird experience and the handshake just didn’t seem to end. That was repeat on us now. Oh, good lord.”

Of course, looking at it now, amidst the currently raging controversy around P Diddy, this awkward story would inevitably further add fuel to the already blazing fire. And yet, while that’s that, the most surprising part of it all was that Payne found something else that was even creepier than Combs’ laugh and his eerily long handshake: His friendship with his tiny crew of three.

Continuing to candidly rant off on Hot Ones, the Strip It Down singer then talked about his perception of Combs’ little close crew of three. Talking about Leonardo DiCaprio, of the three, Payne said, “The group was pretty scary. It was [Leonardo] DiCaprio. He was in an obvious “I-don’t-want-to-be-involved-with-celebrity-murder-and-please-leave-me-alone” sort of thing.”

Then there was Jay-Z, about whom the Midnight singer didn’t have much to say except that “Jay-Z was just in the middle. You know how he is, Jay.” He then talked about Combs, saying,

“Diddy, he would just look, like, the target to start off the night with. So I thought, ‘You know what? Oh, what’s over there? Thought I’d give him a little shake’, and then, no, it just wasn’t happening.”

Adding to all of this and sharing how it indeed took him “some courage” that was “massively held by a little bit too much champagne” to go up to this crew and “make friends with these guys”, Liam Payne further pointed out yet another unsettling factor about it all: Even though all three of them were sat at the same table, they were hardly conversing among themselves.

As the Teardrops singer unhesitantly came clean about his observations and views on it all:

“It seemed like a fun time but what a crew to be hanging out together! And I noticed not one of them were talking to each other but they were all sat at the same table. What’s that about? Oh, well, I’ll sit with you but we’re not going to talk about it. We’re too cool to talk about stuff.”

With all of these details resurfacing amidst Payne’s tragic demise at 31, there’s no doubt that all the names listed here with reported close connections to Sean Combs will find themselves further embroiled in the record producer’s controversy.
