Elden Ring: How To Reach Roundtable Hold

If you’ve just started Elden Ring, you might be wondering how to reach Roundtable Hold—the game’s central hub filled with NPCs, merchants, and a ton of drama.

This place serves as a haven where you can purchase and upgrade gear while preparing for the trials ahead. It’s also home to some of the most critical, lore-heavy NPC quests that must be advanced here.

But how do you get there? In true FromSoftware fashion, it’s not exactly straightforward. This guide will tell you exactly how you can unlock the Roundtable Hold early.

How to Reach Roundtable Hold in Elden Ring

The Roundtable Hold location isn’t really a place on the map you can just mark on the map and get to, so it can feel like a bit of a puzzle to reach initially. There are some specific conditions to trigger your access there.

Most players would have come across the hub naturally for the first time, being whisked away by the NPC Melina as they progressed through the game and rested at different Sites of Grace.

If you’re trying to get there as quickly as possible, however, there’s a way you can speed things up and trigger this event to happen earlier. Essentially, the game considers Limgrave as the ‘tutorial’ area.

Once you attempt to fight Margit the Fell Omen, who guards Stormveil Castle, Melina deems you worthy enough to enter the Roundtable Hold.

However, you can trigger this event to happen much earlier without needing to die to Margit. Just leave Limgrave and either rest at a Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes or Caelid.

We’ll tell you the fastest path, which is via Liurnia. You first need to obtain the ability to summon Torrent from Melina by resting at the Gatefront Site of Grace. Then, take the shortcut from Limgrave to Liurnia that goes around Stormveil Castle instead of through it.

If you’re unaware of this shortcut, you can find it close to the main gate of Stormveil before Margit. Head to a broken bridge near Stormhill where a Finger Crone sits nearby. You can see it on the map, north of the Site of Grace right before Margit at the continent’s edge.

Jump off the broken bridge and follow the cliffside path. Eventually, you’ll enter Liurnia of the Lakes. Then, rest at the Lakeside Facing Cliffs Site of Grace. Melina will appear and invite you to the Roundtable Hold.

What Can You Do in Roundtable Hold?

Once you’ve arrived at Elden Ring‘s Roundtable Hold, you’ll find a bunch of NPCs that will play a role in your journey toward becoming the Elden Lord. Whether it’s a good or bad role is up to you, based on how you proceed with their quest.

At the start, you’ll get to meet a bunch of interesting NPCs that may or may not stay at the Roundtable Hold forever, so make the most of your time with them while you can.

Smithing Master Hewg, the gruff blacksmith, will help upgrade your weapons and shields.

Then there’s the Twin Maiden Husks who you can give your Bell Bearings as you accumulate them throughout your journey. Depending on which ones you’ve given them, they might have some upgrade items to sell to you.

Roderika should also be at the Roundtable Hold if you’ve encountered her at the Stormhill Shack. She’ll eventually move here even if you don’t speak to her. After a few conversations with both her and Hewg, she’ll become a Spirit Tuner and be your go-to NPC to upgrade your Spirit Ashes.

There’s also a very important Finger Reader NPC here. She’ll be your key to unlocking boss weapons and armor after you’ve defeated them. You’ll need to beat one of the Shardbearers before getting access to her, and Godrick the Grafted should be the most accessible one.
