Even the Weakest Z Fighter from Dragon Ball Super Can Annihilate DBZ Frieza

During the 2000s, Dragon Ball Z was seen as the pinnacle of strong characters where almost every warrior (except Mr. Satan) can destroy a planet or two. This planet-tier scaling began in the Piccolo Jr. arc, where Goku’s fight with Piccolo literally destroyed the whole arena. Even before that, Master Roshi managed to erase the Earth’s moon, so blowing the Earth to bits won’t be a problem for our heroes in Dragon Ball Z.

Just after the Saiyan Saga ended, Frieza was seen as the biggest threat not only in the world or the galaxy, but the entire universe. Even King Kai sh*t his pants when he sensed Frieza’s presence on planet Namek and warned Goku never to engage with him. The whole Universe was scared of him and only a legendary transformation that was considered a myth for thousands of years managed to kill him. But all that changed when Dragon Ball Super came along.

With the introduction of God Ki, even Frieza had to hit the gym and train to catch up to Goku and Vegeta. Series creator Akira Toriyama and Toei Animation decided to power up so many characters that they are now way ahead of their Z counterparts. Characters who wouldn’t have dreamed of facing Frieza back in Dragon Ball Z would now be confident to assert their authority around the terrifying tyrant.

Take for instance, Krillin. He first got whooped by Raditz in Dragon Ball Z, then Vegeta, the Ginyu Force, and later was blown by Frieza to bits. Even in episode 76 of Dragon Ball Super, Krillin was too afraid to face the illusory versions of his adversaries.

While the imposter Nappa is being kicked aside, Krillin is about to be attacked by the imposter Tambourine when a flashback from the King Piccolo Saga shows him that Tambourine killed him. Krillin flees in terror, but then an illusory Frieza appears in front of him, so a memory from the Frieza Saga comes rushing back to him. Subsequently, he faces the imposter Super Buu and experiences a flashback to the Fusion Saga, when Super Buu murdered him. Then a fake Dabura shows up and that triggers a memory of him turning Krillin into stone.

But as he realized his mistake, he calmed down and meditated, making the illusions stand like a statue. Krillin remarks that calming his mind was key, as his fear was causing the illusions to grow gigantic and multiply. This episode helps him get his fighting spirit back and train harder, so much so that he was able to block a Kamehameha from a repressed Super Saiyan Blue Goku.

Krillin is stronger than Dragon Ball fans think

A lot of fans make fun of Krillin for being weak and puny but he’s actually the strongest earthlings on the planet. Yamcha in the Moro arc stated that he is one of the 3 strongest humans, which includes Tenshinhan, Master Roshi and Krillin. Roshi stated long ago that both his students have surpassed him so Roshi isn’t in the top 3.

In Tenshinhan’s case, he and Krillin have gone back and forth between who is stronger than whom, with a lot of unseen training going on between the two story arcs. However, as of the Super Hero arc, Krillin possesses a slight power edge with him being able to at least blind the near-God-level threat of Cell Max. Meanwhile, Tien could not stand up to the immensely less powerful Universe 2 fighter Harmira without putting himself in a position wherein he had to sacrifice himself to win.

Moreover, Krillin has more eliminations than Tenshinhan in the Tournament of Power. He first defeated Universe 10’s Dium and Universe 4’s Shosa but had trouble with Universe 4’s blind warrior, Majora. But the Krilldog pulled through with the iconic Kamehameha attack as well as the comedic act of compromising the enemy’s sense of smell with his stinky shoe.

Later, he helped the gang fight against the Moro Corps by tricking Yunba with his Afterimage Technique before appearing behind him and landing a powerful Kamehameha that knocks him out. Krillin might not be galaxy-level but he has the power to blow up planets, including planet Namek and Frieza along with it.
