Happen to be making a lightning-based build in Crimson Desert? Then the Lightning Spear is exactly what you need, thanks to it being one of the most powerful electric weapons in the whole game.
Wondering where to get it? Here’s how to obtain the Lightning Spear in Crimson Desert, how to complete the Special Equipment Challenge tied to it, and how to craft its upgraded version.
Unlocking the Lightning Spear in Crimson Desert

1. Black Wall Bandit Camp
Want to get your hands on the Lightning Spear as soon as you can? Then start heading towards the Black Wall Bandit Camp in Pailune. Once there, you’ll find the Lightning Spear atop a weapon rack, waiting for it to be simply picked up.
2. Dusksong Faction Enemies
Don’t want to head to the bandit camp? No worries. Another early method of getting your hands on the Lightning Spear in Crimson Desert is by shield bashing Dusksong Faction enemies, who often carry the weapon. To do this, block one of their attacks using a shield, then immediately press the Heavy Attack button to perform a shield bash, which will knock the spear out of their hands.
3. Crafting via Dewhaven Keep Research
Done with knocking the weapon off of enemies’ hands and want to start crafting it on your own? Reach Chapter 12 and access the research facility at Dewhaven Keep in Deleysia. Completing the first tier of research in this facility rewards the player with the Lightning Spear Blueprint, which you can then use at any point to craft the weapon.
How to Complete the Special Equipment Challenge
Here’s how to complete the Special Equipment Challenge | Credit: u/BananaSmurfer / Pearl AbyssThe Lightning Spear is also tied to one of Crimson Desert’s ten Special Equipment Challenges, which are part of the Mastery category.
To start this challenge, you need to find and pick up the Sealed Abyss Artifact located on the side of the road north of Arcosa, inside a small wooden shrine. Once you reach the fork in the road heading north, keep an eye out for it on the left.
The challenge itself requires you to defeat 30 enemies using the Lightning Spear. Once you’ve defeated 30 enemies, open your inventory and use the Sealed Abyss Artifact to claim your rewards.
There is also an upgraded version of the Lightning Spear, called the Kuku Lightning Spear, unlocked with its crafting recipe found after cleansing the Sanctum of Absolution in Hernand’s Witchwoods. However, it’s important to keep in mind that this fully upgraded, and more powerful version of the weapon does not count toward the Special Equipment challenge, with only the base Lightning Spear being eligible to progress in it.

Now that you’ve got the Lightning Spear path sorted, go out there and put it to work; those 30 kills won’t farm themselves.
