How to Get The Greysoul Howling Abyss Gear in Crimson Desert

The amount of powerful gear to help players truly feel the combat in Crimson Desert is unbelievable, and Abyss Gears sit on top of that list. One of these is the Greysoul Howling, which is one of the most unique gears that summons a phantom of Goyen to strike your enemies.

Getting it requires completing a specific Chapter 9 quest, navigating a dungeon, defeating a challenging boss, and then visiting a witch to unlock the gear’s full potential. Here’s how you can do each of these steps easily.

How to Defeat Goyen and Get Fated Shadow in Crimson Desert

Before you get your hands on the Greysoul Howling, you need to unlock the quest that leads to it, the Thinning Blade. This particular quest opens up in Chapter 9 of the game once you cleanse the large shrine and inspect the plaques found at the foot of all four surrounding statues. Completing this triggers four separate quests, and the Thinning Blade is one of them.

With the quest active, make your way to the Spire of the Sun, located just south of the Forebearer’s Barrens. Work through the area till you reach the Nest of Valor in the Abyss, where you’ll face Goyen, a boss that has the same attacks as those mostly found with Kliff.

Goyen’s weakness is that he relies heavily on his shield, so the most effective approach is to stay aggressive and continuously build up the stagger bar until he gets stunned and opens up.

Once Goyen is defeated, look to the right side of the arena near the water’s edge. You’ll spot a thin staircase leading up to a room. Head inside, and in the top-right corner of the room, you’ll find the Fated Shadow, a one-handed sword displayed on a weapon stand. The Greysoul Howling Abyss Gear comes embedded within it.

How to Extract Greysoul Howling From Fated Shadow

The Greysoul Howling doesn’t transfer automatically to your preferred weapon. Since it’s already embedded in Fated Shadow, you’ll need a witch to move it. Witches can be found across various regions in Crimson Desert and can be used to embed, as well as remove, Abyss Gears from equipment.

You can use this mechanic to extract the Greysoul Howling from Fated Shadow and re-equip it into another weapon.
