How to Get Hardwood in Windrose?

You cannot dominate the Age of Piracy in Windrose without having one of the most essential resources in the game: Hardwood. This material is used for crafting supreme mid-tier weapons, buildings and decorations that will help you out after leaving the Coastal Jungle.

While this resource may be found across different regions, there’s a single biome filled with plenty of Hardwood to fulfil all your weaponry and building needs. So, here’s how you can easily get your hands on Hardwood in Windrose.

Where to Find Hardwood in Windrose: Best Location

Before you explore the land and seas for Hardwood, you need to defeat Coastal Jungle’s local threat, Thomas Richards, as you need to unlock the Foothills biome to start mining this resource. He’s a part of the main campaign, so you don’t have to worry about missing the boss fight.

Once you’ve unlocked Foothills, you need a Copper Axe or a better pickaxe to mine this resource. You can easily craft a Copper Axe at the Workbench using 5x Copper Ingot and 5x Wood. After meeting all the requirements, head to the northern part of Foothills. The entire region is resource-rich, but your best shot at obtaining Hardwood is exploring the upper part of the biome.

This resource is obtained by mining Divi-Divi trees, and the easiest way to identify them is by their twisted trunks. You’ll find a plethora of trees in this region, but you’ll only get this resource from the Divi-Divi trees. When you find one, use your Copper Axe or a better variant of the pickaxe to mine this resource.

However, make no mistake, Foothills is a high-level area, which means you’ll face some tough critters trying to take you down. If your Item Level is low, you could be prone to extreme danger, so our advice would be to either gear up and stay prepared for a fight or turn down the difficulty. That way, you’ll not only take these enemies down quickly, but you’ll have the option to mine this resource without worrying about death.

Hardwood is an incredibly useful resource, since you’ll need it for various facets at the Workbench, the Weaponsmith, and much more in Windrose. This means you’ll require lots of it, so whenever you come across clumps of Divi-Divi trees, place a Fast Travel Point nearby for quick access to this resource.

Divi-Divi Trees offer Hardwood, Tree Barks, and Wood, and you can use the latter to create Fast Travel Points with a Fast Travel Bell, which requires 10x Copper Ingot and 3x Rope. Alternatively, you can also mark the locations on the map where you find Divi-Divi trees if you’re out of Fast Travel Bells.

What is Hardwood Used for in Windrose?

Hardwood is a staple for crafting numerous items in Windrose. From buildings and decorations to weapons, you name it, there’s a high chance this resource is required for it. You can also craft Charcoal, Ash, Timber, and Simple Fishing Rods with this material. However, it’s primarily used for crafting weapons at the Weaponsmith Workshop.

The more you upgrade your Weaponsmith Workshop, the better weapons you can create with Hardwood in Windrose. Pistols, Muskets, Blunderbuses, and Halberds are some of the weapons you can craft with this resource. When you upgrade your Weaponsmith Workstation, specifically by attaching an Avil Station and Bellows, you can create Uncommon variants for some of the best weapons currently in the game.

Weapons such as the Reliable Pistol, Dragon’s Breath, and Drake’s Double-Barreled Pistol use Hardwood in their crafting recipes, and they’re some of the best mid-tier sidearms you could have in Windrose. Apart from this, if you’re into building and decorating your base, Hardwood will come in handy for crafting Cabinets, Benches, Beds, and more.
