GTA 6’s 26-Minute Extended Look Has Been Captured Entirely on PS5

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is closer than ever, and we are finally going to get the first major official gameplay showcase today. Rockstar Games has partnered with Netflix for Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look to give us a new glimpse at the highly anticipated sequel on August 27, 2026.

According to details found on the official page for the release, the showcase will run for approximately 26 minutes and 49 seconds. More importantly, Netflix has confirmed that the footage was captured entirely from the game running on PlayStation 5. This is an important reference point for what GTA 6 could look like on current-generation hardware when it launches later this year.

GTA 6‘s Extended Look Is Nearly 27 Minutes Long

The Extended Look is considerably longer than any trailer that Rockstar has released since GTA 6 was first revealed. Netflix’s listing shows a 26-minute runtime, with reports identifying the precise duration as 26 minutes and 49 seconds.

That gives Rockstar plenty of time to demonstrate substantially more of the game than it could fit into a traditional trailer. The studio has not revealed exactly what the presentation will contain, however, so it remains unclear whether the footage will focus on missions, exploration, driving, combat, character interactions, or a mixture of gameplay systems.

The showcase is particularly significant because Rockstar’s second trailer arrived in May 2025, meaning fans have spent more than a year waiting for another substantial official look at the game.

The timing is also notable following a wave of recent GTA 6 gameplay leaks. Unofficial footage has circulated online ahead of Rockstar’s planned presentation, but the Extended Look represents the first opportunity to see a lengthy, officially presented section of the game.

Netflix subscribers can watch the presentation first at 3 p.m. ET on August 27. Six hours later, Rockstar is expected to make the presentation available publicly through its YouTube channel and other platforms.

The GTA 6 Footage Was Captured Entirely on PS5

Perhaps the most interesting technical detail is Netflix’s confirmation that the Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game footage on THE PlayStation 5.

Netflix’s blog post specifically identifies PlayStation 5 without mentioning the PS5 Pro. We can take this as confirmation that the footage was recorded on the standard PS5, but Netflix’s statement does not definitively establish whether Rockstar used the base console or the more powerful PS5 Pro.

Either way, this is an interesting development for GTA 6. Rockstar is preparing one of the most ambitious open-world games ever made, and the Extended Look will show us just how its massive version of Vice City performs on current-generation PlayStation.

The game’s setting includes Vice City and surrounding areas across Leonida, with protagonists Jason and Lucia at the center of a criminal story. Rockstar has previously talked about the scale and detail of the world, and we can’t wait to see the scale of the project.
