Forza Horizon 6 Closes in on Gran Turismo 7 With an Estimated $579M+ in Sales

Forza Horizon 6 is already doing laps around the competition, and the latest estimates suggest the Xbox racer has plenty of road ahead. Alinea Analytics puts the Japan-set open-world game at almost $580 million in revenue from over 8.8 million copies sold, bringing its closest possible PlayStation rival, Gran Turismo 7, well within reach.

But this may not be its ceiling. A PlayStation 5 launch for Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled for January 26, 2027, giving the game another potential audience to chase beyond Xbox and PC.

How Forza Horizon 6 Is Closing In on Gran Turismo 7

In its latest look at 2026’s top-grossing first-party games from Sony and Microsoft, Alinea estimates that Forza Horizon 6 has generated $579.2 million from 8.8 million copies, making it the top-grossing game in its first-party Sony and Xbox comparison in the report. The firm calls it the fastest-grossing first-party racing game, with Mario Kart World as the only notable exception in this year’s figures.

Gran Turismo 7 remains the target: Alinea estimates $834 million in PlayStation revenue, leaving a $254.8 million gap. That is sizeable ground to cover, especially because the rival has been available since 2022 and continues to sell steadily. A strong launch alone will not erase that history overnight, even if the current pace holds.

The comparison is not perfectly like-for-like, since Forza Horizon 6 is an open-world arcade racer while Gran Turismo 7 leans toward simulation, and the former’s total spans Xbox and PC whereas the latter’s estimate covers PlayStation alone as it is an exclusive. Meanwhile, Forza Horizon 5 has generated more than $1 billion across Xbox, Steam, and PlayStation, a reminder that racing games can keep earning long after launch, even through discounts.

Alinea expects FH6 to pass GT7 at some point next year, citing the upcoming PS5 port and eventual discounts. The report also points to 4.5 million Steam wishlists; interest, of course, is not a purchase.

Forza Horizon 6 Is Outrunning the First-Party Pack

The platform split is particularly interesting, with Xbox accounting for 56.7% of the game’s estimated revenue across console and PC. Alinea also estimates that more than 10 million people have played through Game Pass, while 1.3 million paid for the Premium Upgrade, generating $82 million. That is indeed a sizeable return from a game that has benefited from both subscription access and traditional sales.

The other results in Alinea’s report make the gap between the top performers and the rest even more apparent. Marvel’s Wolverine generated an estimated $192.9 million from 2.5 million PS5 copies sold, narrowly edging out MLB The Show 26, which brought in $192.7 million. Interestingly, Xbox accounted for 48% of the latter’s revenue, despite PlayStation’s position as the franchise’s home platform.

Elsewhere, Halo: Campaign Evolved reached an estimated $86.6 million (making more money on PS5 than on Xbox in the process), while Marathon generated $61 million from 1.7 million copies sold. Marvel Tokon followed with $51.6 million from approximately 800,000 copies. Those are respectable figures in isolation, but they leave Forza Horizon 6 much ahead of the other titles in Alinea’s latest comparison.
