Gachiakuta Sets November Return Following Its Longest Hiatus Yet

The previous installment was published on August 4 on K MANGA, Kodansha’s official manga platform. By November 11, readers will have waited approximately 99 days between the published chapter and the scheduled comeback. That is more than three months without a new installment, making it the manga’s longest recorded hiatus since serialization began in February 2022.
Chapter 174 was expected on August 25, 2026, but it didn’t appear. By September, readers still had no confirmed return date, leaving the manga’s publication status uncertain. The situation became more unsettling after Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou stepped away from X amid controversy surrounding fan harassment. Their absence from the platform, however, was not evidence that the manga itself was in danger.
Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine eventually addressed the situation on September 9, 2026. Through its official X account, the magazine confirmed that Gachiakuta had entered a hiatus and apologized for leaving readers without an earlier explanation.
“We apologize for the ongoing hiatus of “Gachi Akuta” and the concern it has caused. We will provide an update on the resumption date as soon as it is determined. We kindly ask for your continued support and encouragement for Gachiakuta.“

The last chapter left readers with a development that could have consequences far beyond Bundus himself. Chapter 173, titled “Forgot Something?”, brought the Cleaners’ ongoing problems surrounding the Doll Festival and the Watchman Series into focus while Rudo remained in a difficult situation involving Kyouka.
The major development involved Bundus, who revealed that he had been tracking the mysterious Choker Maker. His pursuit finally brought him into possession of a pendant associated with the choker-making mystery. The item is connected to the Watchman Series, making it potentially valuable to anyone trying to understand the origins of these objects and the people behind them. The chapter ends with Bundus accomplishing the mission he had been pursuing.
In Gachiakuta, objects can carry extraordinary significance because of their relationship to the people who use them and the powers they possess. The Watchman Series has already been tied to some of the manga’s biggest unanswered questions, including Rudo’s abilities and the deeper history of the world. A pendant connected to the Choker Maker could therefore provide a new lead in a mystery that has been developing across multiple conflicts.
Bundus’s discovery also raises questions about what happens next. Could the information connected to the pendant help expose how the chokers are made? Could it reveal something about the Watchman Items themselves? Those possibilities remain speculation, not confirmed plot developments. Nevertheless, the discovery gives the returning installment a clear narrative thread to pick up rather than forcing readers to wait through another introductory detour.
The timing also works in the manga’s favour as anticipation for Gachiakuta Season 2 continues to grow. The official anime website confirms that a second season is in production. An official Season 2 announcement was published in December 2025. However, no official Season 2 premiere date has been confirmed in the announcements cited here.
Gachiakuta Season 1 is available on Crunchyroll. Manga chapters are available on K MANGA app.
