Hunter x Hunter: 5 Strongest Characters Who Can Defeat Adult Gon, Ranked

Adult Gon is one of the most terrifying fighters in Hunter x Hunter, possessing enough power to overwhelm Neferpitou after sacrificing his future as a Nen user. However, raw strength isn’t everything in a Nen battle, especially when an opponent possesses superior techniques, overwhelming abilities, or decades of combat experience.

The manga has introduced several characters whose abilities could give them a decisive advantage over Gon’s transformed state. From legendary Hunters to beings with extraordinary powers, these five characters have compelling reasons to be considered stronger than Adult Gon, ranked according to their demonstrated abilities and potential to overcome him.

5 Isaac Netero Could Outmaneuver Adult Gon With His Ultimate Nen

The badass anime sensei Isaac Netero‘s extraordinary speed and combat experience make him a formidable opponent for Adult Gon. Although Netero admitted that he was weaker than Neferpitou in raw strength, his battle against Meruem demonstrated just how dangerous he could be against a superior opponent.

His 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva unleashed a relentless barrage of attacks that even the Chimera Ant King initially struggled to overcome. Against Gon, Netero could exploit his incredible attack speed to keep him at a distance and overwhelm him with consecutive strikes. He ranks fifth because his exceptional technique, battle experience, and tactical intelligence make him a dangerous opponent for Gon.

4 Tserriednich Hui Guo Rou Could Exploit Adult Gon’s Blind Spots

Tserriednich Hui Guo Rou possesses one of the most dangerous developing Nen abilities in the Succession Contest arc. His Specialist Nen ability allows him to perceive a possible future while meeting specific conditions, potentially giving him the information needed to avoid incoming attacks and exploit an opponent’s movements.

Combined with his extraordinary learning speed and natural talent, this ability could make him exceptionally difficult to hit. Against Adult Gon, Tserriednich could use his foresight to anticipate attacks and identify opportunities for a counterattack. He ranks fourth because his future-seeing ability offers a powerful defensive advantage that could neutralize Gon’s greatest strength: his devastating close-range offense.

3 Ging Freecss Could Turn Nen Mastery Into His Greatest Weapon

Ging Freecss is widely recognized as one of the world’s most accomplished Nen users, with Netero identifying him among the top five. His encounter with Leorio also demonstrates his remarkable understanding of Nen, as he reproduces the principles behind Leorio’s emitted punches after experiencing the technique.

Ging’s greatest advantage is his ability to understand unfamiliar Nen mechanics and adapt accordingly. Against Adult Gon, this exceptional versatility could allow him to identify weaknesses in Gon’s fighting style and develop an effective counterstrategy. Ging ranks third because his extraordinary Nen mastery, adaptability, and tactical intelligence give him the tools to overcome Gon’s overwhelming physical power.

2 Meruem Could Overwhelm Adult Gon With Superior Power

Meruem possesses the physical strength, intelligence, and durability to defeat virtually any opponent introduced during the Chimera Ant arc. His battle against Netero demonstrated his ability to analyze an opponent’s movements and gradually overcome an apparently impenetrable defense. After recovering through his absorption of Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi, Meruem gained additional power and abilities, making him even more dangerous.

Adult Gon overwhelmed Neferpitou, but Meruem’s combination of extraordinary resilience, tactical intelligence, and overwhelming aura presents a substantially greater challenge. Meruem ranks second because his demonstrated combat achievements and post-resurrection enhancements give him the means to overpower Gon’s transformed state.

1 Nanika Could Bypass Adult Gon’s Strength Entirely

Nanika possesses unique Nen abilities that extend far beyond conventional combat. Residing within Alluka Zoldyck, this mysterious entity can grant wishes under specific conditions, producing extraordinary effects that ordinary Hunters cannot replicate. Most notably, Nanika restored Gon after his transformation left him near death, demonstrating the extraordinary scale of its power.

Against Adult Gon, Nanika’s abilities offer a way to bypass physical strength entirely rather than compete with him in a conventional exchange of blows. Nanika takes the top spot because its wish-granting power operates on a level that makes Gon’s overwhelming physical abilities largely irrelevant when the necessary conditions are satisfied.
