Star Trek fans will be hyped to know that the fan-favorite Borg Queen is all set to return in a new avatar. The decklist for the Star Trek Commander set of Magic: The Gathering includes the Borg Queen as the leader of the We Are the Borg Commander deck. The cards arrive on November 13, 2026, just over two weeks away.
For Star Trek fans, it marks the return of one of the greatest villains of the franchise, while Magic fans will be able to use a character that is built on assimilation and artifacts. Other Commander decks also include Captains and Landing Party cards, which are led by Picard and Spock respectively.
The Borg Queen Leads the We Are the Borg Commander Deck

According to Wizards of the Coast, she strengthens your artifact creatures and pulls creatures from your opponents’ graveyards, turning them into Borg creatures that you can convert into additional advantages.
Patrick Stewart’s brief heel turn as Locutus of Borg also serves as the alternate commander for players who want a different route to the same goal. The Borg Queen is, however, categorized as a Borg Noble, indicating her status as a more powerful player in the card game.
Every Star Trek Commander deck includes 32 cards that are new to Magic, along with a foil commander and 10 double-sided tokens. The Borg deck leans on assimilate, a new keyword action that puts creatures under your control and turns them into Borg artifact creatures. There are many franchise favorites in the list, including Seven of Nine, Hugh, Jurati, and Võx. Fans will also spot story moments from Star Trek: TNG such as The Best of Both Worlds and Battle of Wolf 359, plus ships like the Type-03 Borg Vessel and the Class-4 Tactical Cube.
Collector’s Edition versions of every deck are also available, with every card printed in surge foil. The Borg Queen deck competes with Federation Fleet, Landing Party, and Klingon Fury, but she may be the most fitting face of the set.
Even After 30 Years, The Borg Queen Remains a Star Trek Icon
Alice Krige and Patrick Stewart in Star Trek: First Contact | Credits: ParamountAmong all the other Star Trek characters, it is fitting that a Commander deck in Magic: The Gathering’s Star Trek collectible has the Borg Queen at the front and centre. The villain is an icon despite not featuring in the OG run of Star Trek: TNG. The Borg Queen debuted only in the film Star Trek: First Contact, which was released in 1996.
Alice Krige gave a memorable performance as the menacing Queen of the parasitic Borg Collective. While the alien species were TNG’s primary villains, the Queen was only mentioned in passing and not given a face till First Contact. She returned in Voyager, played by Susanna Thompson in several episodes, before Krige came back for the 2001 series finale. Krige later appeared as a holographic version in Lower Decks in 2021.
The most recent appearance came in Picard season 3 in 2023. Krige returned to voice the character, while Jane Edwina Seymour stood in physically under heavy makeup. No newer screen appearance has surfaced since, which makes the tabletop debut feel even bigger.
The Magic: The Gathering Star Trek Commander decks, Collector’s Edition decks, and more release on November 13, 2026. Pre-release events run from November 6 to 12, and MTG Arena players get access on November 10. Preorders are open now at local game stores, TCGplayer, and Amazon.
