Saros launches on April 30, 2026, exclusively on PlayStation 5. The game will not be available on PlayStation 4, and for now, there has been no announcement of a PC version, which is expected, given Sony’s recent change in approach of stopping the release of their exclusives on PC. (via Bloomberg)

The game was originally scheduled for March 20, 2026, but Housemarque pushed the date back to late April at The Game Awards in December to give the team more time. Fortunately, the delay this time was short.

There are two editions available for purchase. The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99, and the Deluxe Digital Edition, which comes with a 48-hour early access, is priced at $79.99. This means Deluxe buyers can start playing as early as April 28, 2026, along with exclusive Enforcer armor sets.

What Is Saros About: Story and Gameplay Explained

Saros is set on Carcosa, a hostile alien planet, with the players stepping into the boots of the protagonist, Arjun Devraj, who happens to be a Soltari Enforcer sent to investigate a lost off-world colony that has gone completely silent.

The storytelling in Saros is driven through a mix of in-world elements, including audio logs, NPC conversations, and Soltari Holograms, which are all collectible recordings that piece together what really went down on Carcosa before Arjun arrived.

Gameplay-wise, Saros is a third-person roguelite action shooter and can be said to be an evolution of what the studio earlier built with Returnal. For players on the PlayStation 5 Pro, Saros has been confirmed to run with enhanced graphical features on Sony’s more powerful hardware.

There is also a difference in how death and progression work in Saros. Carcosa is a shape-shifting world that literally changes with every death, with environments, enemy layouts, and more changing between runs. One of the only things permanent here is the upgrades through the Armor Matrix system, which carry over between runs.

The game also has a new Second Chance mechanic, which gives players one free revival per run using eclipse corruption energy, becoming a safety net that makes the game slightly more forgiving than the studio’s previous title without undermining the challenge it puts forward.
