Prime Video’s romantic drama Every Year After has quickly become one of the streamer’s successes as teens and young adults flock to the platform to witness their favorite love story come alive. Based on Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Every Summer After, the series follows Percy Fraser and Sam Florek across two timelines as they navigate first love, heartbreak, and a long-awaited reunion in Barry’s Bay. With Season 1 ending with Percy and Sam giving their relationship a chance and Charlie seemingly suffering a heart attack, fans are already eager to know whether they’ll be returning to Barry’s Bay for another chapter.
While Prime Video has not officially renewed Every Year After for a sequel as of June 15, 2026, there are plenty of reasons why the streamer should bet on the story. The show debuted strongly on the platform, reached Prime Video’s Top 10 rankings shortly after release, and has additional source material available through Fortune’s follow-up novel, One Golden Summer.
Has Every Year After Been Renewed for Season 2?
Percy and Sam in Every Year After | Credits:- Justine Yeung/Prime VideoAt the time of writing, Every Year After has not been officially renewed for Season 2 yet. Prime Video has not announced a continuation, which is not unusual given that the series only premiered on June 10, 2026.
However, the signs are encouraging. Beyond its strong early performance, the show already has a natural path forward thanks to Carley Fortune’s interconnected Barry’s Bay novels. Since the Season 1 finale expands Charlie Florek’s storyline and leaves his future unresolved, there is a high possibility for Season 2 to shine a spotlight on him.
The ending of Every Year After Season 1 also leaves multiple character arcs unfinished. Percy and Sam’s relationship remains a work in progress, Charlie’s health scare creates new uncertainty, and tensions between the Florek brothers are far from resolved. Hence, Season 1 feels more like the beginning of a larger story than a definitive ending.
Showrunner Amy B. Harris’s Thoughts on Season 2

Harris has been pretty excited about continuing the story of Percy, Sam, and Charlie. She remains hopeful for the story to continue. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harris revealed that she already sees a long-term roadmap for the show.
“I see five seasons,” Harris said when discussing the future of Every Year After. She also pointed to Fortune’s follow-up novel as a potential blueprint for the next chapter, adding,
Obviously, there’s another book that’s connected to Barry’s Bay that I think will be a very exciting blueprint for us for a potential season 2.
Harris has also emphasized that she wants to explore more than just Percy and Sam’s romance. She has “a very strong feeling” about where the story could go next and suggested that the world of Barry’s Bay contains enough characters and relationships to sustain multiple seasons.
This is also why the television adaptation put more focus on several supporting characters that were not so fleshed out in the novel. Characters such as Charlie, Delilah, Chantal, and Jordie received more development, creating scope for additional storylines that could be explored in future seasons.
What Could Every Year After Season 2 Be About?
If Season 2 moves forward, the most likely source material is Fortune’s novel One Golden Summer. Unlike Every Summer After, which centers on Percy and Sam, the sequel shifts much of its focus to Charlie Florek and a new romantic lead named Alice Everly.
The Season 1 finale deliberately sets up that transition. Charlie’s emotional journey remains incomplete, and his heart attack cliffhanger gives the perfect entryway into the new chapter. Harris has already teased that Charlie’s role would expand moving forward, so the continuation makes perfect sense.
That doesn’t mean Percy and Sam would disappear. Future seasons could continue following their relationship while introducing new romantic storylines and exploring the wider Barry’s Bay community. For now, fans will have to wait for Prime Video’s official decision. But between the show’s strong debut, readily available source material, and Harris’ ambitious long-term plans, Every Year After appears to have a promising future.
