Every DC Star Across All 3 Seasons of Netflix’s One Piece

In the world of Netflix’s One Piece, some familiar faces have more than just pirate adventures on their resumes. Several cast members have already stepped into the DC universe before joining Luffy’s journey.

From Superman and Justice League to The Sandman, Preacher, Batwoman, and Sweet Tooth, these actors have played heroes, villains, gods, and so on. And now, they are bringing that experience into Netflix’s live-action One Piece.

1 Mikaela Hoover’s Chopper Connects One Piece to Superman

Mikaela Hoover plays Tony Tony Chopper in Netflix’s One Piece, providing the character’s voice and facial capture. Chopper arrives in Season 2, Episode 6, “Nami Deerest,” before becoming an important part of the Straw Hat crew’s journey.

Hoover also has a place in DC’s newest movie universe. She appears as Cat Grant in James Gunn’s Superman, while her earlier DC work includes The Suicide Squad and Lucifer. Seeing the actress move between Chopper and the DC universe makes her one of the most interesting crossovers in the cast.

2 Vincent Regan’s Garp Once Ruled Atlantis in Aquaman 2

Vincent Regan plays Monkey D. Garp, the tough Marine vice admiral who spends much of Season 1 chasing his grandson Luffy. His relationship with Luffy also gives the first season some of its most personal Marine moments.

Regan has already ruled a fictional kingdom of his own. In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, he plays Atlan, the former king of Atlantis. It is a fun connection, considering that Garp commands enormous respect in the One Piece world while Atlan belongs to the ancient history of Atlantis.

3 Joe Manganiello’s Crocodile Was Once DC’s Deathstroke

Joe Manganiello joins One Piece as Sir Crocodile in Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece live-action, also known as Mr. 0, the leader of Baroque Works. Crocodile will become one of the biggest threats in the Alabasta story, making Manganiello’s Season 3 role one of the most important to look for.

DC fans already know him as Slade Wilson, better known as Deathstroke. Manganiello appeared as the deadly assassin in Justice League and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. His history as Deathstroke makes his casting as Crocodile feel especially fitting.

4 Sendhil Ramamurthy’s Cobra Has a Long DC History

Sendhil Ramamurthy plays Nefertari Cobra, the king of Alabasta and Vivi’s father. Cobra becomes an important part of the kingdom’s conflict as the Straw Hats become caught in Crocodile’s plan.

Ramamurthy has spent plenty of time in the DC world. He played Bloodwork in The Flash and later appeared as Mister 104 in Doom Patrol. He also has a voice credit in DC Super Hero Girls. That gives the actor several very different DC roles before taking on the serious role of Cobra.

5 Peter Gadiot’s Shanks Once Battled Supergirl

Peter Gadiot plays Shanks, the pirate who inspires Luffy to become a great pirate and gives him the famous straw hat. Even though Shanks does not appear constantly, his influence over Luffy is huge.

Gadiot has also faced one of DC’s most famous heroes. He played Mr. Mxyzptlk in Supergirl, appearing during the show’s second season. So while Shanks inspires Luffy, Gadiot’s DC character was busy causing trouble for Kara Danvers.

6 Camrus Johnson’s Mr. 5 Is Also Batwoman‘s Luke Fox

Camrus Johnson plays Mr. 5, one of Baroque Works’ agents in One Piece Season 2. His character becomes part of the growing threat surrounding the Straw Hats as they head toward the Alabasta conflict.

Before joining the pirate world, Johnson spent years playing Luke Fox in Batwoman. His character eventually becomes Batwing, giving Johnson a direct connection to the Batman side of DC. He also provided voice work for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

7 David Dastmalchian’s Mr. 3 Has Several DC Credits

David Dastmalchian plays Mr. 3 in One Piece Season 2, the strange Baroque Works agent whose wax powers make him a tricky opponent for the Straw Hat Pirates. His role adds another memorable face to the growing Alabasta cast.

Dastmalchian’s DC history is even more impressive. He appeared as Thomas Schiff in The Dark Knight, played Dwight Pollard in Gotham, voiced Calendar Man in Batman: The Long Halloween, and played Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad. He also appeared as Abra Kadabra in The Flash. Mr. 3 is simply his latest stop in a long comic-book journey.

8 Xolo Maridueña’s Ace Is the DCU’s Blue Beetle

Xolo Maridueña is set to join One Piece as Portgas D. Ace in One Piece Season 3, Luffy’s older brother. Ace’s arrival adds another important connection to Luffy’s past and becomes one of the major parts of the Alabasta-era story.

Maridueña is already familiar to DC fans as Jaime Reyes, the Blue Beetle. He led the 2023 Blue Beetle movie and became the first actor to play the character in a live-action feature. Going from Blue Beetle to Ace gives Maridueña two very different young heroes to play.

9 Daisy Head’s Miss Doublefinger Appeared in The Sandman

Daisy Head will play Miss Doublefinger, one of the Baroque Works agents working under Crocodile. Her arrival in Season 3 adds another dangerous member to the group standing against the Straw Hats (via Netflix).

Head also appeared in Netflix’s The Sandman, the adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s DC/Vertigo comic. She played Judy Talbot in the series. The roles are very different, but in both places Head worked inside worlds filled with strange powers and dangerous characters.

10 Clive Russell’s Crocus Became Odin in The Sandman

Clive Russell plays Crocus in the live-action series One Piece, the doctor who watches over the Reverse Mountain entrance to the Grand Line. His meeting with the Straw Hats gives the crew important information as they begin their journey into the Grand Line.

Russell later took on a very different kind of role in The Sandman. He played Odin, the powerful Norse god, in the Netflix series. That means the actor has now appeared in two fantasy worlds that are packed with legendary characters.

11 Mark Harelik’s Hiriluk Was God in Preacher

Mark Harelik plays Dr. Hiriluk in Season 2, one of the most important people in Chopper’s early life. His story helps explain why Chopper wants to become a doctor and gives the character some of his strongest emotional moments.

Harelik also played God in Preacher, the TV adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic. It is a strange but memorable contrast. In One Piece, he plays a doctor who changes a young Chopper’s life, while in Preacher, he takes on the role of God himself.

12 Omid Abtahi’s Toto Also Appears in DC Animation

Omid Abtahi plays Toto, a citizen of Alabasta who becomes connected to the kingdom’s growing crisis. His role is part of the wider story surrounding Vivi and the struggle to save Alabasta.

DC fans may know Abtahi mainly from his voice work. He voiced Hawkman in the animated movie Justice Society: World War II. That gives him another link to DC’s animated side, where he shared the screen with characters such as Wonder Woman and The Flash.

13 James Hiroyuki Liao’s Ipponmatsu Has Multiple DC Roles

James Hiroyuki Liao plays Ipponmatsu, the sword-shop owner who crosses paths with Roronoa Zoro. His One Piece role may be smaller than some of the others on this list, but his DC resume is anything but small.

Liao appeared in Preacher before joining James Gunn’s DC world. He plays General Mori in Superman and also appears as the same character in Peacemaker. That gives Liao a particularly interesting connection to the current DC Universe.

14 Christian Convery’s Young Sanji Led DC’s Sweet Tooth

Christian Convery plays young Sanji in One Piece, appearing in the character’s childhood story. While Taz Skylar plays the adult version, Convery helps show where Sanji’s complicated past began.

Convery is also closely linked to another Netflix comic-book adaptation. He starred as Gus in Sweet Tooth, based on Jeff Lemire’s comic published by DC’s Vertigo imprint. He also appeared in Lucifer, giving the young actor two DC-related credits before joining One Piece.
