The 2026 Emmy race already has six programs sitting on five or more trophies, and the biggest awards night has not even happened yet. After the September 5 and 6 ceremonies, Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay leads the pack with eight wins, Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Show has seven, The Traitors and DTF St. Louis have six apiece, while Spider-Noir and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert have five each.

The September 5 and 6 Creative Arts ceremonies are officially Nights One and Two of the 78th Emmy Awards, while the main televised 78th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony takes place September 14 on NBC and Peacock. In other words, the trophies below already count toward each program’s 2026 Emmy haul, and those totals can still grow. For this ranking, the number of wins comes first. When two programs are tied, I’m looking at category impact, breadth, Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb, and how much each show swept its field.

6. The Late Show Bows Out With 5 Emmys

Stephen Colbert’s final season is leaving CBS with considerably more than a farewell montage. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won five Emmys for writing, picture editing, lighting design and lighting direction, technical direction and camerawork, and Yvonne De Mare’s directing. The Television Academy specifically identified it as one of Night One’s three dominant programs alongside Bad Bunny’s halftime show and The Traitors. 

Writing and directing victories recognize the show’s comedic voice, while editing, lighting, and camerawork reward the technical machine required to produce network late-night television at that frequency. Rotten Tomatoes does not have a meaningful critic score for Season 11, so using its old reviews as if they measured Colbert’s final year would be misleading. For historical context, Season 1 earned 91% from critics and 68% from audiences, while IMDb currently gives the complete 2015–2026 run 7.2/10 from roughly 17,000 ratings.

Five trophies make for a handsome goodbye, but the programs above either collected more or swept a wider section of the Emmy ballot.

5 Spider-Noir Turns Style Into 5 Emmy Wins

Prime Video may have canceled Spider-Noir, but Emmy voters clearly didn’t see it as disposable superhero fare. The Nicolas Cage series won five trophies for cinematography, stunt coordination, title design, visual effects, and sound editing. Those categories explain why fifth place still comes with a strong endorsement. The series built its identity around Depression-era noir photography, elaborate action, an unusual title sequence, and the option to watch its eight episodes in either black-and-white or color. The Emmys rewarded exactly that craftsmanship.

Reception backs up the enthusiasm. Spider-Noir has a terrific 92% Tomatometer and 90% Popcornmeter, while IMDb users currently give it 7.7/10 from around 70,000 ratings. It ranks below the six-win shows because all five wins were in craft categories, but technically, Spider-Noir had one of the strongest weekends among scripted series.

4 The Traitors Turns Deception Into 6 Wins

Alan Cumming apparently knows how to charm Emmy voters almost as well as he manipulates contestants inside a Scottish castle. The Traitors won six Emmys, including Cumming’s third consecutive Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program trophy. It also prevailed in directing, production design, picture editing, cinematography, and costumes.

That’s almost everything that makes The Traitors feel more like gothic theater than a typical reality show. The U.S. series carries an 88% average Tomatometer and 70% Popcornmeter, with IMDb sitting at 7.7/10 from roughly 8,800 ratings. Season 4 itself currently has too few professional reviews for a useful Tomatometer, so the full-series numbers give a fairer picture of its reception. I’m putting it fourth, not third, since the other six-win show also took home major acting, writing, and directing awards that night.

3 DTF St. Louis Makes 6 Wins Count

DTF St. Louis also has six Emmys, but its victories cut through almost every major creative department. David Harbour and Linda Cardellini won supporting acting Emmys, while creator Steve Conrad took both writing and directing. The HBO limited series added victories for cinematography and picture editing. That combination is why it beats The Traitors in this ranking. Acting, writing, directing, cinematography, and editing amount to a remarkably comprehensive endorsement of the seven-episode production.

Critics were similarly warm. DTF St. Louis has 89% on Rotten Tomatoes and 73% from audiences, while IMDb gives it 7.3/10 from around 24,000 ratings. Its IMDb score trails some shows below it, but its six Emmy wins in major categories give it extra weight.

2 Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show Takes 7 Emmys

Bad Bunny managed to fit an extraordinary Emmy haul into roughly 13 minutes. The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny won seven trophies, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live), directing, music direction, choreography, sound mixing, lighting design and lighting direction, and technical direction and camerawork. It was the biggest winner of Night One. It’s technically a TV special, not a series, but leaving it out would make this list incomplete. IMDb currently holds 8.0/10 from roughly 350 ratings. That sample is tiny beside the scripted shows here, so I would not lean too heavily on it.

1 Widow’s Bay Leads the 2026 Emmys With 8 Wins

For now, Widow’s Bay owns the 2026 Emmy scoreboard. The Apple TV horror-comedy collected eight Emmys on Night Two, the largest haul of any program across the first weekend. Betty Gilpin won Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, while the show also took casting, production design, sound editing, sound mixing, cinematography, music supervision, and music composition.

Eight wins alone justify No. 1, but the categories make the achievement more persuasive. Performance, casting, photography, production design, music, and both major sound disciplines all went its way. That is less a lucky night than an industry-wide vote of confidence in how the series was assembled. Audiences and critics have been equally enthusiastic. Widow’s Bay currently has a superb 98% Tomatometer and 92% Popcornmeter, while IMDb users rate Matthew Rhys’ supernatural comedy 8.1/10 from roughly 74,000 votes.

That gives it the strongest current combination of Emmy victories, critical acclaim, and audience approval on this list.
