Vegeta’s next power-up might not come with a new hair color. Dragon Ball Super 2, the sequel anime titled Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, is in production and will adapt the Moro arc, where Vegeta learned Forced Spirit Fission.
In the manga, he used it to strip stolen energy from Moro, then gathered his friends’ energy and passed it to Goku. Aim that at himself, and Vegeta could become a walking Spirit Bomb, taking energy from living beings and turning it into his own ki. It hasn’t happened yet, but the groundwork is there.
Dragon Ball Super 2 Will Finally Animate Vegeta’s Yardrat Trick
Vegeta from Dragon Ball Super Chapter 61 | Credits: ShueishaThe sequel adapts the manga’s Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc, where Goku and Vegeta join the Galactic Patrol as temporary members to catch Moro, a millennia-old sorcerer who devoured the life energy of entire planets. Moro beat them both the first time around, draining their energy and stripping away their Saiyan transformations. So the two went their separate ways to train. Goku worked on Ultra Instinct with the Angel Merus, while Vegeta headed to Yardrat, the same planet where Goku once picked up Instant Transmission.
There, Vegeta learned Forced Spirit Fission, an ability Goku never learned. In simple terms, it lets him separate and control the energy inside a target. He can undo fusions, break up absorptions, and even free trapped souls. Vegeta finally showed it off against Moro in Chapter 61 of the manga, and it was a really big moment. Every punch he landed knocked stolen energy right out of Moro, who had taken it from planets across the universe. Vegeta didn’t just let it float away, either. He sent it back where it came from, which even brought a bunch of Namekians on New Namek back to life.
That says a lot about Vegeta. This is the same guy who once showed up on Namek hunting for Dragon Balls, and now he’s the one handing Namekians their lives back. He even bragged that he could split Piccolo back into Nail and Kami if Piccolo ever wanted it. Fans will get to see all of that animated, and that alone is worth the wait. In their first fight, Moro was the one draining Vegeta. The rematch flipped it completely, and Forced Spirit Fission was the reason why.
How Vegeta Can Weaponize Forced Spirit Fission, Explained
The best hint is in Chapter 66. Moro had fused with the Earth itself, and Vegeta was punching the ground to deflate him by ripping away his spirit energy. But Vegeta could only keep that up for so long before wearing out. Then Piccolo asked a simple question: could Vegeta run the technique in reverse, gather energy from everyone, and give it to Goku? He could.
Vegeta collected the energy, added his own, and passed it along. A wave of energy from Uub, who inherited the Great Lord of Lords’ god power, reached him, and Goku used it to reawaken Perfected Ultra Instinct and form an energy avatar even bigger than Moro. On paper, Forced Spirit Fission is the opposite of Goku’s Spirit Bomb, which gathers energy from many living things. Yet Vegeta did the gathering part anyway. The only thing he hasn’t done is keep that energy. Picture him pulling it from allies and wrapping it around himself instead of tossing it to Goku. That is a walking Spirit Bomb.
That would be poetic. During the Kid Buu fight, Vegeta came up with the plan to restore Earth with the Dragon Balls and then asked everyone to donate energy to Goku’s Spirit Bomb. Most of Earth ignored his plea until Mr. Satan stepped in. To be fair, none of this is confirmed. The adaptation is official, but the self-powered Spirit Bomb idea is only a theory, and the manga gave the technique a limit too, since Vegeta can only rip away energy for a certain amount of time before he gets exhausted. Still, with the Moro Arc coming to screens, Vegeta’s strangest tool has never looked more promising.
