With a primary focus on denim, the shop called Dutil aimed to highlight timeless pieces meant to last beyond just a trend cycle or single season.

“Dutil is a Vancouver institution built on a deep appreciation for quality, craftsmanship, and service,” says founder Eric Dickstein. “Since day one, we’ve aimed to create a space where people can find well-made garments that last, and where the experience of shopping feels personal, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming.”

After two decades in the business, the business is still going strong, expanding its influence beyond blue jeans into more style categories.

“When we first opened in 2006, we were known as one of Canada’s premier destinations for denim from around the world. Over time, we’ve evolved beyond just a retailer into a brand with our own point of view, developing products and working closely with some of the best textile mills and manufacturing partners globally,” Dickstein says. “We’ve also expanded our presence into areas like eyewear, building relationships with some of the best stores in the world. The common thread has always been a commitment to quality and constant forward movement.”

To celebrate its milestone anniversary, the brand and boutique has released a limited-edition anniversary collection of key pieces spanning denim to sweatshirts.

“It’s a tight edit of everyday pieces, made in small quantities and grounded in the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship we’ve had from the beginning,” Dickstein says.
