Matthew Mayich had a Gordie Howe hat trick, and then some, but it wasn’t enough to help the Ottawa 67’s on Friday night at TD Place.

Despite a goal, fight and two assists from the overage defenceman, the 67’s dropped a 6-3 Ontario Hockey League decision to the Brantford Bulldogs.

The win ended a three-game winning streak while dropping Ottawa’s record to 3-2-0. The Bulldogs, who are owned by Ottawa Senators owner Michael Andlauer, are now 3-3.

Chicago Blackhawks third-rounder Nick Lardis paced the Bulldogs with two goals while the other visitorsgoals were scored by Washington Capitals fourth-rounder Patrick Thomas, Orleans native Zakary Lavoie, Calvin Crombie and Noah Roberts.

Filip Ekberg and Caden Kelly also scored for Ottawa.

Collin MacKenzie made 28 stops in the 67’s net while Brantford goalie David Egorov blocked 30 shots.

The 67’s will try to get back on track Sunday afternoon when they host the Sudbury Wolves at TD Place.

Game time is 2 p.m.
