Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) is arrested at the protest after her blonde wig is knocked off while she tries to help Angela. She is not shot and killed, but instead taken into custody. The plan is for Fisk (Men in Black’s Vincent D’Onofrio) to make a public spectacle of her—or, at the very least, to draw Matt, aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox), out of hiding.
Karen is kept in prison, but Murdoch visits. At first, I thought he was surely going to escape with her, after a police confidant of the vigilante couple lets Karen out of her cell. He brings her outside, where Matt and she embrace. Before Matt can explain why she needs to stay inside, Karen beats her to the punch.
Karen tells Matt they will never be free unless they beat Fisk at his own game. Matt leaves. However, Heather is sent in to assess Karen for court. They trade barbs, mostly over their past love for Murdock. Karen tries to appeal to Heather’s better judgment, but she is already too far gone. We can almost see her going from hero to villain.
Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2 Episode 7: Why Does Heather Assault Karen?
Charlie Cox in Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2 Episode 7 (2025) | Image via Disney+Dr. Glenn (Star Wars: The Acolyte’s Margarita Levieva) assaults Page, who is shackled to the table, because Karen represents a version of herself from before the Muse. Heather gets up, walks away, saying, “Let’s be sure to do this again.” Page looks up, lip bleeding, and tells the good doctor she is looking forward to it. The entire scenario has me worried for Karen’s life.
Then there’s the whole scene where Glenn and Fisk share a moment reminiscing over Vanessa. How? He finds an earring and, remarkably calmly, confronts Heather about it. She plays it off warmly and invitingly, admitting her theft and hoping Fisk doesn’t mind her self-indulgence. Remarkably, she is not killed, or, unless, Fisk still needs her for trial.
Or, is Fisk grooming Heather to fill Vanessa’s shoes as his next wife? That would be awkward, since Dr. Glenn and Buck (Arty Froushan) have genuine chemistry. Meanwhile, Kirsten (Nikki M. James) represents Karen. The trial is not looking good. However, Daniel (Michael Gandolfini) tells Buck BB (Genneya Walton) is the mole.
Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 7 Ending Explained: Why Does Buck Kill Daniel?
Krysten Ritter and Charlie Cox in Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2 Episode 7 (2025) | Image via Disney+I’m not going to lie, I found Daniel to be one of the more annoying characters on the show. Not to mention, I think the young Gandolfini has some growing to do as an actor to take on such a role in a major series. However, both the character and the actor find redemption in the episode, as Buck kills Daniel for failing to hand over BB.
Daniel has fooled BB, thinking he is taking her to a safe house away from Fisk. However, she figures it out as they exit the car, with Kingpin’s fixer waiting upstairs. BB appeals to Daniel’s good nature, and he lets her go, telling her to run. Daniel walks up to the empty top floor of the building. Buck asks where BB is, and Daniel refuses to tell him.’
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 7,” The Hateful Darkness” ends with Buck giving Daninel the beating of his life, over and over, punching him in the face. Buck then pulls out his gun, shooting him in the head. Buck is about to leave, looks back, clearly shaken, because he cared for Daniel, but then leaves, heading to his boss to deliver the bad news.
You can watch Daredevil: Born Again season 2 exclusively on Disney+ starting March 24th. A new episode streams weekly until May 12th.
