Daredevil: Born Again Season 2: Did Jessica Jones Have a Baby With Luke Cage?

Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones is the latest member of the Netflix Defenders Saga to make the jump to the MCU. Episode 6 of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 marks her long-awaited return to the small screen after her show was axed in 2019.

In addition to Jessica Jones, the new episode also introduces Danielle, her daughter, who comes as a surprise given Jones’ years-long absence from the limelight. Although it’s never explicitly revealed who Danielle’s father is, as she didn’t exist during Jones’ Netflix run, her comic history points to one clear-cut answer.

Luke Cage Is the Father of Jessica Jones’ Daughter

Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have been one of the most notable power couples when it comes to Marvel’s street-level heroes in the comics.

Netflix’s Defenders saga also saw them briefly engage in a romantic relationship before things fell apart after Luke discovered that Jones was responsible for the death of his wife under Kilgrave’s control.

Moreover, in the comics, the duo also shares a daughter by the name of Danielle, who is named after Luke’s best friend, Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist. Considering they do eventually bury the hatchet in the Defenders saga, it appears Born Again is following the same playbook as the comics with Danielle, who could end up being the bridge between the remaining Defenders heroes and the MCU.

Although both Luke Cage and Danny Rand are yet to be incorporated into the MCU, and their returns have not been officially confirmed, there are plenty of reasons to believe they could make the jump to Daredevil: Born Again in Season 3.

Is Luke Cage Returning in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3?

Even though there’s nothing official to go by, images of Mike Colter and Finn Jones from the set of Daredevil: Born Again season 3 recently began circulating on the web before EW reported that a reunion of the Defenders was indeed in the making.

Colter himself pulled off a Tom Holland and seemingly spoiled the potential reunion in Season 3 in a now-deleted post, which featured a BTS shot from the production of Born Again Season 3, including Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll.

Although Marvel has yet to comment on Colter’s return, given the recent set photos and the introduction of Danielle in episode 6, there’s every reason to believe that we’ll be witnessing Luke Cage in season 3 of the acclaimed show.
