It’s been a busy year for the publisher, with Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword all arriving in 2026. Capcom’s latest report covers the first half of its 2027 fiscal year, which ran from April 1 to September 30, 2026. The figures include games released this year alongside older entries that continue to sell, making for a mix of recent launches and long-running favourites.
The 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4 took the top spot after selling 3.54 million copies during the six months. Pragmata followed with 2.73 million, a strong opening for Capcom’s new science-fiction action game. Onimusha: Way of the Sword also entered the chart with 1.78 million copies sold, putting it ahead of several established releases.
Six entries from Resident Evil made the top ten, including Resident Evil Requiem, which recorded 1.59 million sales during the period. Meanwhile, Devil May Cry 5 secured fourth place, and Monster Hunter: World rounded out the list. The latter’s 30.83 million lifetime sales also make it the chart’s biggest game by total copies sold:
| 1. Resident Evil 4 (2023) | 3.54 million | 17.15 million |
| 2. Pragmata (2026) | 2.73 million | 2.73 million |
| 3. Resident Evil 2 (2019) | 2.06 million | 20.38 million |
| 4. Devil May Cry 5 (2019) | 1.83 million | 14.78 million |
| 5. Onimusha: Way of the Sword (2026) | 1.78 million | 1.78 million |
| 6. Resident Evil Requiem (2026) | 1.59 million | 8.51 million |
| 7. Resident Evil 3 (2020) | 1.56 million | 14.93 million |
| 8. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017) | 1.47 million | 18.87 million |
| 9. Resident Evil Village (2021) | 1.33 million | 16.27 million |
| 10. Monster Hunter: World (2018) | 1.17 million | 30.83 million |
It’s worth noting that Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen arrived on October 9, after this reporting period had ended, so its sales aren’t included here.
Capcom’s Older Games Are Still Doing a Lot of the Heavy Lifting
What a tremendous performance. | Credit: CapcomCapcom sold 36.86 million game units through its “Digital Contents” business during the first half, up from 23.85 million in the same period last year. Catalogue games accounted for 32.18 million units, or 87.3% of sales. That means most of the units sold came from games already in the library, even with several new releases arriving this year.
The Resident Evil numbers make that especially clear. Resident Evil Requiem reached 8.51 million lifetime sales, while the Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 2 remakes and Resident Evil 7 each sold more than a million units during the six-month period. Discounts, new platform releases, and interest in the franchise are all potentially helping these older games find new buyers.
All in all, Capcom’s results show that its game business has enjoyed its strongest first half on record for both total unit sales and catalogue sales. The company has kept its full-year forecast unchanged, with the second half still to come.
